No power going to computer

I'm pretty sure I have the power button wired correctly and the motherboard wired correctly.

Perhaps you misinterpreted the way in which the Power led, power switch, and hdd led connect onto the mono

Should be color coded. I messed it up at first myself

Overall yes. Had a problem getting the risers in and had to widen the holes myself. No big deal. I had to pull the wires out of the channel because they didn't have enough slack.

re: No power going to computer

unplug the power cable from the motherboard, take a screw driver and run it across the pins on the motherboard where the power cable was connected. This should jump start the computer if it will power on at all. If it comes on, you know your power connector cable is either wrong or bad. If it doesn't work...well it could be a number of things at that point if everything is connected properly.

That doesn't sound like the best idea

I'd reccomend the paper clip test on the psu to ensure its not faulty

Then doublecheck your colors on your case connectors

re: No power going to computer

When I was doing the external build following the newegg videos I tried that shorting procedure and didn't get anything out of it. At the time I figured I just didn't have it connected properly.

re: No power going to computer

I know it doesn't sound like the best idea, but I guarantee it works. I was taught that trick in my hardware class going through school and have mentioned using it to Dell tech support at my job multiple times (around 8) on machines that have warranties and they never bat an eye.

We have some issues at work with a bunch of computers that have motherboard issues where the power button randomly stops working and it's the only way to power on the machines until Dell comes to fix them.

Pretty much. When I started connecting again I found that it was pretty straight forward as far as where the connections went. I just didn't trust the shorting technique. Figured I'd try connecting it to the power button.

re: No power going to computer

does your power supply have a little tester button on the back of it? you can usually hold that button down to see if it lights up green as a way of testing the power supply...if not, I'd first try and use a known working power supply to see if that can get it going (if you have one available).

I don't see a button. I do remember when I was doing the external build seeing a couple led's flash once or twice on the graphics card. Haven't seen it again though.

I know this sounds like a really stupid question, but you do have the machine plugged in, right?

Yes I do. Same power source as the computer as I am using right now.
