NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports ex-Raiders QB JaMarcus Russell is attempting another comeback.
The last we heard of the former No. 1 overall pick, he was attempting a "comeback" with the Louisiana Swashbucklers of the Professional Indoor Football League in December 2011. According to Rapoport, the famously portly quarterback currently tips the scales at 305, but is hoping to get down to 265. Good luck, JaMarcus. Brett Favre is among the players who have played NFL football more recently than Russell.

What a damn waste. He was great at LSU and I'll always appreciate his time here, but damn he's given us a bad time since he left us. Really sucks that he's our only #1 pick.

I can't tell if Leaf is just letting one rip or if he is trying to let it squeak out

Dude just got paid and stopped giving a shite. A lot of pros do it, but not #1 overall pick QBs.

If he dropped to 265 I'd give him a tryout for sure. No doubt he can still zip a football like a motherfricker.

However, I probably wouldn't hire him. Just giving him an NFL tryout though would somewhat legitimize his comeback and make the indoor/arena/CFL teams look at him harder.

I wonder how much of his 40 milli is gone? I am pretty sure I read he still has most of it.

I don't get why a solid trainer wouldn't lock himself on to Russell with a contract with nothing up front but a percentage when signs a deal.

There is absolutely no reason why he shouldn't be on an NFL roster at the minimum. His work ethic must be atrocious, and he basically must have just given up on ever being productive forever.

If someone cooked his meals for him, and worked him out they would get paid.

Solid idea.

Any trainer worth their salt could get him to drop 40 pounds quickly on that frame if Jamarcus is truly serious about this.

First thing that needs to happen is he needs to move away from his friends and family, live by himself, and throw away his cell phone. No distractions or poor influences for 4 months. 10 lbs a month would be easy for him.

If he got in shape, he could latch on several places easily. The first thought for me was Arizona.

I thought he essentially got away from ppl when he went to Houston a couple yrs ago to be with John Lucas. tweeting about working out and all that good stuff. and yet when I heard he and Lucas on a radio interview around that time, Lucas cut off a question about Jamarcus' weight like he was a lawyer stopping his client from making a self-incriminating statement.

yeah JR didn't try to lose weight with LUcas. That was a PR stunt and Lucas is full of shite most of the time IMO.
