Goodell deserves respect from Saints fans
Despite whatever good he may have done after Katrina, dude basically screwed the fans and city out of a year of competitive football. I personally hopes Goodells limo takes a wrong turn right into the 9th ward.

Not a good point. We were used as an example, the investigation was based off of hearsay. You could probably have found evidence of the same sort of system at half of the leagues teams prior to this season, we were just the unlucky ones who were made into an example and fricked over.

I hope that documents showing just how much of a kangaroo court this was--e.g., the transcripts that De Smith referred to and/or Benson's Freeh Report--surface sometime AFTER the SB but before the draft so that all of the focus can be on how Goodell fricked up.

tagliabue was the one that called for it. he appointed someone, which just so happened to be frickdell.
doesn't mean that frickdell gave a rat's arse, he was just doing his job that tagliabue told him to do.
if biden did some awesome thing that obama told him to do, biden wouldn't get credit for it. it was "obama's administration" that would get credit. so I give tagliabue's administration credit for it, not goodell.

I actually used to like Yasinkas. I thought he was fair, balanced, and unbiased (for the most part) among all 4 NFCS teams, but ever since "Bountygate", the answer is definitely

I think the length and extent of Payton's extension was excessive . . . BUT, we tend to forget that he and others lied to Goodell's face. And deceived the league more than once (it is utterly irrelevant whether the players intentionally tried to injure . . . the fact is that the staff lied to the league about pay for performance). If not for that, I doubt his suspension would have been as severe.
It is also true that the NFL took steps to keep the team in N.O.
Point being that Yasinskas is not totally offbase. I know I'll catch shite because I'm not toeing the party line.

There's merit to what you say. The question is, was what Payton and the Saints did bad enough to merit the suspensions and punishment that they received? If it was and the NFL had the evidence to prove it, why didn't they? All they presented was slipshod hearsay that was destroyed each time it was presented. Bottom line, what happened was a preemptive action in the wake of the looming concussion lawsuits. Ultimately, Goodell butchered things so badly, that his former boss had to step in...and ultimately criticized how he (Goodell) handled it.
There's absolutely no doubt that were it not for Tagliabue's intervention, the Lombardi trophy would be in San Antonio and not New Orleans. Goodell acted under orders from Tagliabue. Point being that I find it more than a little interesting that multiple news sources, many of which previously credited Tagliabue for keeping the Saints in New Orleans are now changing their story...and all are basically saying the exact same things at the same time, almost as if they were prompted.
Maybe soon, ESPN will credit Goodell with making their Loomis wiretapping story go away.
