re: Anyone else seen zero dark thirty?

I saw it this weekend and absolutely hated it. I felt like it was very lazily written and terribly acted. Not once did I feel intrigue, suspense, or really any emotion. I couldn't find one single reason to care about any of the characters, especially Chastain. In fact, she annoyed the living hell out of me the entire time.

And no, I didn't expect it to be a "blow stuff up" movie. I loved The Hurt Locker, but left ZD30 feeling like I had just wasted my time.

The total opposite for me. I enjoyed Argo but it was no where near as good as Zero Dark Thirty. Best movie so far this year.

Me too.

Interesting. Sorry we blew up that chopper in your back yard, Osama.

i liked ZDT....and as much as i like Chastan, i thought he performance was rather weak. kind of put a damper on the movie, but overall it was well done. the raid scene was greatness

re: Anyone else seen zero dark thirty?

Saw it this morning. I liked that it was not politicized and that there seemed to be a specific intent to avoid using the names of either Bush or Obama.

I also liked that it was not heavy handed on the heroics. Every actor seemed tasked with portraying a character that was simply doing their job. It was a very plausible performance by all. Kudos to the director for that.

I did want to see some scenes where the Seal Team trained for the raid and discussed plans. I recall reading how a scaled replica of the compound was built in North Carolina for this raid. If true, this would seem to be a meaningful event to depict. I wanted to see more scenes of having the compound under surveillance.

I did not hate this movie, but I don't see any way this movie gets a Best Picture Oscar. Chastain did not really have a chance to show any acting chops, so I don't see her winning either. For film editing, I'll go with Argo over this one.

For me, it was a well done movie. But I enjoyed Argo and Django so much more. I liked Lincoln about the same, but Lincoln was more impressive.

I think there's a plan to do this, or something similar.

Yes I've seen it. Thought it was great but the torture scenes made it.

The movie is poorly titled. If you're looking for a movie about SEALs, this isn't it. Watch the trailer a few times and move on with life.

I liked the fact Bigalow tried to included the attack on Chapman(Al Bilawi), that could be a movie itself.

You have to really pay attention in the movie to understand the nuances, or have some serious background info on the GWOT prior to seeing the movie.

I liked both movies a lot. The helicopter ride was super suspenseful though, I was on the edge of my seat and just going "holy frick, they did that" when it was showing.

see, i thought they were kind of weak.

like the original scene where he covers his face and pours water on him...he pours one bucket of water on him then walks out.....is that supposed to get the guy to talk?

Loved this movie. Thought the pace was appropriate and I was on the edge of my seat for the final assault even though I knew most of the details about how it played out. I also this think movie was significantly better than the Hurt Locker. Maybe it helped that it was sort of a documentary and so the screenplay had less creativity needed because I thought the writing in Hurt Locker sucked even though the acting and directing were top notch. ZDT was awesome though, want to see it again.
