Fans may not get how well No. 1 overall pick Anthony Davis is playing this season.

quote:

For one, Damian Lillard gets all the rookie headlines, and he deserves them for his smooth offensive game and taking control of the Portland offense. Combine that with the fact Davis is an evolving offensive player — you can’t just throw him the ball in the post our out on the wing (or elbow) and expect him to blow your doors of in isolation — and he’s not a guy who grabs a lot of fans’eyes. Davis is scoring 12.3 points a game but it comes off being strong as the roll man (shooting 50.8 percent in that role), plus being smart making cuts in the offense. Those aren’t highlight plays.

quote:

But Kevin Garnett is a believer.

quote:

Here is what KG said to Jessica Camerato of CSNNE.com after the Celtics played the Hornets this week.

quote:

“That kid is long,” said Garnett. “I think he makes me look like a midget, man. … He’s a freak of nature. The kid’s going to be really good. The kid’s going to be really good.”

Good to hear this from the guy most of us would say is AD's ceiling.

Please feel free to give a little more insight and provide a better player than KG that AD's skill set would most translate to.

Skill set is similar, though I think AD has potential to be better in the end.

You do realize that in KG's prime he averaged 24 and 14, right?

I guess you're hoping for 30 and 20. Seems legit.

He wasn't distracted by the Hornets' attendance tonight.

AD can be better without necessarily putting up crazy high stats.

we'll be lucky if he can be as good as Garnett in his prime...Contention is likely with a player like that unless the management is horrible

KG was a pretty awesome player in his prime and still is pretty fricking good. I see the resemblance with AD, although I think AD may end up with some different aspects to his game (and maybe better than KG . . . who knows?)

I agree with the V to the D... Anthony's offensive game will just continue to adjust (at a skyscraping level) while his defense becomes NBA-DPOY dominant. All the while he keeps his ego in check and the team goes deep.

Funny you say that b/c I think AD will fall somewhere b/w KG & Camby. I would be satisfied with that.
