| Possible SF targets in Free Agency (Posted on 1/18/13 at 3:13 pm)
This is definitely the position that we need to upgrade the most and we have the cap space to try and do that next year. As most know, we declined Aminu's option for next season, so he will be a unrestricted free agent. Even if we bring him back next season, I don't think he is a long term answer as a starting SF. UNRESTRICTED(Age and 2012/13 salary in parentheses) Josh Smith (27, $13,200,000) *Would make us an instant contender IF he buys in Corey Brewer (26, $3,243,000) Kevin Martin (29, $12,939,675) *Bit of a tweener and would sacrifice a lot on defense Dorell Wright (27, $4,106,000) Martell Webster (26, $1,600,000) *Would be a great fit and will be highly sought after PLAYER OPTIONS(Age and 2013/14 Player Option in parentheses) Andre Iguodala (28, $15,904,750) Linas Kleiza (28, $4,600,000) Trevor Ariza (27, $7,727,280) *Don't laugh, he would actually be a good fit with the way this team is built now.

Wow I didn't realize that Iggy was 28, in that case I wouldn't be terribly adverse to putting KMart next to Aminu if we offer to him. Talk about polar opposites. Pricey, though. I'd rather offer the farm to Iggy. Webster is someone I hadn't thought of. 40% from three and 85% FT%? Yes please. I'm seeing his salary as 5.2 million, though. Is that wrong? Edit: nm, that site was wrong. 1.6 is right. Bargain.

Does it? I think we're set offensively from our starting rotation. Vasquez can put up points, EG will get it done, Davis' game will develop, and Lopez is solid as well. I know we need more scorers but I dont think it's a necessity in our starting rotation.

So, who guards the opposing teams best wing during crunch time? Anderson?

What does quote:
Sign Al Jefferson, make Robin a back up
have to do with quote:
who guards the opposing teams best wing during crunch time

Yeah, I think the only way Ariza would be brought back is if Aminu was let go and plans A and B fell through.

Incredible athlete. Injuries have plagued him throughout his career. Good upside guy

Because you'd have virtually three PF's on the floor in crunch time with a signing of Al Jefferson

The reason they didn't keep him around was because he was the player Washington wanted if they were to take on Okafor's contract. Ariza's problems here was that he was relied on too much on the offensive end. He was/is one of the best defenders in the NBA. If he were to come back here, he would be the 4th scoring option (like Aminu is now) and would be an upgrade on the defensive end.

Oh I was unaware of injuries. Ugh. I see you edited the shooting well thing. I was about to say, his careers are only about 0.02 off of this years, outside of FT% which is still decent overall.

Yeah remember when we dreaded Ariza shooting the ball? Then came Aminu's moon shots...

never said he wouldn't...but he would cost about 4 million more than Al, and Al is playing just fine right now

Great player. Dont know about the fit with Anderson/Davis. He does play SF, but he is most effective as a stretch 4, like Anderson.
quote:
Corey Brewer (26, $3,243,000)
If they let Aminu go, hes a good replacement. But I dont know if hes any better than Aminu. He doesnt turn it over but he also isnt nearly the same rebounder.
quote:
Dorell Wright (27, $4,106,000) Martell Webster (26, $1,600,000)
Good bench shooter options.
quote:
Linas Kleiza (28, $4,600,000)
he could be a solid option. but hes been bad in Toronto this season. they definitely need more sf help, but the nature of it depends on Aminu. if he continues to play like he has the last few weeks, he can start for this team.

Are you seeing what Webster is doing right now? If he is healthy, he in unequivocally a starter.
