No vacancies filled by black coaches so far. Zero hires means a loss of two overall in the NFL (Lovie Smith and Romeo Crennel).

Literally hundreds of sportswriters are waiting to press "send" on their stories. Get ready.

They need something to rage over since Deadspin made fools out of the lot of them.

Unfortunately, you're right. You can see the narrative coming from a mile away

Crennel gets let go in KC after 1 (albeit miserable) season.

Smith gets fired in Chicago after going 10-6 (and missing the playoffs after starting 7-1)

Philly pushes to hire Chip Kelly twice even though there are countless black coaches out there.

etc, etc, etc.....

Who would you consider a great candidate out there?

You can't really judge any hire until we see how they perform. I don't think Mike Mccarthy or Sean Payton were considered great hires at the time.

Arizona hasn't even interviewed Lovie, so no he won't be their coach...

But Ray Horton their Def coach interviewed and he's black and he even has dreads!!

I said what I said half in jest. But it is peculiar that Andy Reid was out of work for 24 hours and he had two miserable seasons in a row.

Lovie Smith was 10-6 and he was in the NFC Championship 2 years ago, and he will be unemployed, at least as a head coach.

And Lovie Smith and Andy Reid have been to the same number of Super Bowls. And Smith's was actually more recent.

Andy Reid went to I think 4 NFC championship games in a row with 1 Superbowl appearance. I'd want him as a coach over Lovie regardless of color

No....we need a good coach. I don't care if he is purple if he can get us a Super Bowl win.

Okay, but there were what, 5 or 6 other vacancies and he's not even getting a sniff, while everybody's fighting over who gets Andy Reid?

You can argue that Reid is better, but not THAT much better.

Didn't that state vote against recognizing MLK Day? Their coach will be white.

I agree. I think Lovie is a hell of a coach so I'm surprised he hasn't had any interest from teams like buffalo
