Michael Lasyard 6'8" Freshmen at Northwood High School.

Anybody know anything about him? Is he a big kid with athletic ability and grades or just a big kid playing? What is his potential and will he make the grades to be eligible to play college? How old is this kid?

If someone knows the kid, they probably have an idea of how well he does in school.

My son played against him last year. He was very raw and had limited post moves. He looked a little lost at times, but did rebound well and had a few putbacks. He looks to have a lot of upside, and of course he has the one thing you can't teach, he's 6'8". We play them again in two weeks and I will report back.

JJ should see if a Baton Rouge school will give him a scholly. Then have him over as much as the rules will allow to work out with our coaches and players.

Some kids hit growth spurts earlier than others. Some kids also become freshmen earlier than others.

True, but almost everyone keeps growing after their freshman year. My brother was 6'4 as a high school freshman, and he still is at 32 years old. I grew 4 inches from my freshman year through my first year of college.

This is what I was wondering, however he does at least apparently have the grades to at least play.

Hopefully this kids doesn't stop growing as a freshman like so many other potential LA basketball phenoms(Tasmin, Bridgewater, Gathers). At least he's made it over the 6'6'' barrier already.

I know their family. My dad is his dad's boss. Awesome family. He really is that big with a great attitude... not cocky at all. Great student too.

Saw him again last night, he has definitely improved. His build reminds me Glen Davis, but not quite as heavy. He has good feet and is starting to develop some nice post moves. He stepped out a few times from about 12-15 and hit a couple. You can tell he is still a bit raw, but there is a ton of potential there. My son talked with him a couple of times and he is very soft spoken and has a great attitude. Our team doesn't really have a big that could compete with him so I'd like to see him against a true post player.

1. He's not skilled or fit enough to play with us right now.

2. He ain't doing that unless he plans to sit out for a year.

3. Lena...Flatwoods...Nobody cares, its always been said as Northwood-Lena...per RPSB
