Anyone know the latest on a film adaption of the Dark Tower series?
I read these books while I was at LSU and absolutely loved them.

This is what Ron Howard has been working on. Great book series. Should not be much longer. Last I heard half the books were going to be movies and the other half were going to be done on T.V.

Last I had heard, the project had been shelved indefinitely...haven't had time to google it in months, though.

I'm one of the few that would rather it NOT be adapted, TBH.
But I felt same way about Watchmen and Lord of the Rings, too...till I saw the films.

Needs to be a HBO mini-series for it to have any chance of being a quality adaptation. These are some of my favorite books, with Wizard and Glass being my overall favorite book. Young Roland, Alain, and Cuthbert were awesome.

Needs to be animated. Too big of a story to film. Actors would have to dedicate 5 plus years to do it right.

I read the first one and just thought it was ok...kind of slow. Does the series improve after the first book?

Yes but after the fourth book it starts slipping

I think it is back on again but I'll believe it when I see it since it has been on and off and on and off about 1000 times.

I was hoping the success of GOT would make HBO dive in but Dark Tower is such a crazy mix of sci-fi/Horror/Fantasy and Westerns that I am sure most producers are scared to death of the series.

That's what I'm thinking as well. They did such a good job with adapting A Game of Thrones, if they did a similar job with the Dark Tower; I would be real excited. I loved both series of novels.
