The best LSU football recruiting analysts/prognosticators not on LSU staff?

TD does not have on-staff, paid football recruiting analysts. TD has a large readership. With those two facts in mind, I pose the question: who are the best LSU football recruiting analysts/prognosticators? Who understands the LSU coaches' wishes, recruits' wants, and which high school, prep school, and JUCO players will likely commit to play for LSU?

Please explain your answer with some "evidence" and without trash-talking any of the candidates.

Below is a short and incomplete list of some names listed in alphabetical order (of surnames). Certainly feel free to add names (and organizational affiliation).

Shea Dixon (247)
Gino Joubert (Tigalaya)
Gary Laney (ESPN)
Scott Long (DandyDon.com)
Mike Scarborough (Rivals)
Sonny Shipp (247)
Jimmy D Smith (NOLA.com)

They all bring something to the table but Shea and Sonny are the best. Ponamsky is good as well.

Does Ponamsky cover recruiting much? My impression is that he covers current players and staff.

I'd say me and shea

Shea's a good guy I email him a bunch. I still have some good connections from when I worked for the team. Although no one here will believe me. Which is why I don't post much BC it just goes to the BS pile

DP primarily covers recruiting. He has a staff that does write ups for other sports and some football. DP also does a 411 which is the best/coolest information about the current team that is available anywhere.

Shea, Sonny, and DP are the clear cut best guys in the business for LSU recruiting information.

I agree that Chinese58 provides some good, insightful information...more so on 247 than on TD.

Scott Long, Gino, and Jimmy D provide free information at their respective web sites.

Jimmy D more recently and DP for a while now have been really good at getting pertinent information that people want to know. DP gives out good info most sites shy away from. Gino does a good job of this too but it might not be accurate all the time but to me that is neither here nor there because he does give out good info.

I really enjoy S/S over at 247 and the top notch info that they give to their subscribers is definitely the best. My only problem is with 247 being a national network it is very obvious that they do not want to step on anyones toes when push comes to shove vs the national guys and how they rank prospects/teams. Whereas being the fighting/non-conforming type we LSU fans are it woud be nice for them to say they disagree with certain things that are brought up instead of always going along. (publicly anyways) But the tradeoff is worth it for my money.

Also, Helman at ESPN has been doing very good in my opinion also. I enjoy reading his stuff.

Why doesn't TD man up and hire someone? We've got hundreds of experts right here.
