Generally the players love Miles and would do anything for the guy. Most say he's a father figure. So why have many of the underclassmen on the fence the last couple years choose not to come back and play for them.

I see it as this; they see Miles in 2 forms.
1. Les Miles (Head Football Coach)
2. Les Miles (The Person)

I believe they would do anything Les Miles (The Person) asked them to do, but they do not feel Les Miles (Head Football Coach) can do anymore for their careers at this point. Guys like Mingo and Sam are ready, no one can do more for them, Minter is borderline, but the rest will be mid draft picks to not even getting selected and they want out, this goes back to Shep last year.

It’s pretty alarming that this is going on at this high of a rate; it appears at this point this program doesn’t have much to offer juniors who may be NFL ready.

If you had the chance to leave college at 20 years old and make millions, would you stay?

most of these guys are going to get picked early. that's good for the program. talented kids who want to get nfl ready will want to come to LSU.

the real problem is the high picks aren't coming from the offense. If there is one position where you need to go early, it's running back. their careers are short. unless you've got a chance to get into the 1st round by playing another year, might as well go.

Honestly, why would they stay? Most of the guys who are turning pro have nothing to gain from staying. Only Logan and Simon are probably making bad choices. Ware and Ford are getting passed up on depth chart by freshman anyway. Everyone else will be starting on Sundays. So staying to risk your career makes no sense at all.

If he had the chance to leave Popeye's to go to Church's for an extra 50 cents an hour he would leap at it.

You also need to remember that payscales have changed in the NFL. So upper first round money isn't as drastically different as it was in the past to other draft picks.

Les looks out for them. He will tell them leaving early is best if it is in fact best for them.

Miles wants to develop all of his players, whether that be to a college degree or to the NFL (or both). The more players he gets drafted, the better recruiting is. Top talent generally wants to play early and get to the NFL ASAP.

No no no, it's coaching. The only possible reason they are leaving is because of coaching.

I agree with every point you guys made. But they seems to be a bigger turnover at LSU than most schools.

The best coaches in the country lose underclassmen every year. Its probably rare for a player to return or leave based on the coach and the coach alone.

Les has issues as a coach but this is not one of them.
