While this is true, no other team is having this big of a problem as we are. so we are just more talented than everyone or there is a problem

4 leaving might not be so much but 11, there is a problem and no one on the rant wants to accept it.

Please tell me one single thing that Les Miles does well. If you are going to criticize him for putting too many players into the NFL, I need to know if you are capable of admitting even a single positive that he brings to the table? Otherwise, you fully admit that your opinion is intentionally biased away from logic and towards your predispositions against the man who leads our team.

The problem is that these guys were recruited on the heels of a BCSNC and were expecting to play for another one. They've been around 3-4 years and have one SEC championship to show for it. They know they will not win another one next year. What's the upside on staying?

Generally the players love Miles and would do anything for the guy. Most say he's a father figure. So why have many of the underclassmen on the fence the last couple years choose not to come back and play for them. I see it as this; they see Miles in 2 forms. 1. Les Miles (Head Football Coach) 2. Les Miles (The Person) I believe they would do anything Les Miles (The Person) asked them to do, but they do not feel Les Miles (Head Football Coach) can do anymore for their careers at this point. Guys like Mingo and Sam are ready, no one can do more for them, Minter is borderline, but the rest will be mid draft picks to not even getting selected and they want out, this goes back to Shep last year. It’s pretty alarming that this is going on at this high of a rate; it appears at this point this program doesn’t have much to offer juniors who may be NFL ready.
.

I think it's becasue they realize that their draft stock will never be higher and they choose to follow their dream of playing in the NFL. Aside from Simon, not one person who declared this year could increase their draft stock by playing another year and Simon has other issues helping him make this decision. Since Miles has been here, there has been one time a player left early that should've come back and that was RR. He is a player who doesn't seem to like Miles. He's vocal enough on his twitter account that we all get the picture he was butthurt when he left and still is. But of the guys declaring early:
Wing - #1 punter in the draft
Sonic - 1st rd
Mingo - 1st round
Minter - #2 MLB if Moseley returns to Bama
Reid - possibly #1 safety prospect
Logan - second round
Ware - 3-5 round and in a crowded backfield at LSU
Ford - see Ware above
Simon - been talking about the NFL since the middle of last year and has family to worry about and some are projecting as high as 3rd round with his measurables.

I know for a fact that Miles sits down with each guy once they get their draft scores and discusses the situation with each player. If he doesn't feel they will get higher than they are, he will encourage them to goto the NFL.

I don't understand why people keep saying this is a problem. If players were transferring out right and left, I would say yes, there is a problem in the lockerroom, but these guys are not running away from LSU, they are going to the NFL. There's a difference. We were talented this year. We all knew it, the coutry knew it, the NFL knows it.

Big-time recruits in big-time CFB programs dont go there to stay 5 years. All of them choose their programs because the program can help them get to "the league." Every now and then a few will go back to school for their senior year, but most of those go back with the intent to raise their draft stock.

I disagree with the premise that there is some "unknown" problem that is causing this mass "exodus". There were numerous threads prior to the season extolling the fact that a few 8 to as many as 15 would possibly be leaving after the season was over. As a matter of fact, it was discussed on this forum on an ad nauseum level. And the names mentioned were the usual suspects.

A brief consensus -

Definitely leaving:
1. Mingo (potential 1st round selection)
2. Sonic Sam (potential 1st round selection)
3. Faulk (potential 1st round selection)
4. Reid (potential 1st round selection)
5. Mathieu
6. Blue (financial hardship/family house burnt, etc.)
7. Simon (financial hardship/family to support)
8. Logan (financial hardship)
9. Wing (hated school/ever wonder why we recruited and signed a scholarship punter when the present one had 3 more years of eligibility? The coaches knew Wing was gone after this season.)

Good possibility of leaving:

10. Ware
11. Ford

Possibility of leaving if they had a breakout season:

12. Loston
13. Mettenburger (the fear of 1 and done as a starter was beaten to death)
14. Minter
15. Boone

And now that the season is over, there are far too many chicken-littles bemoaning "the end is near". If you were paying attention, this was not unexpected. Chalk it up to outstanding recruiting over a two year period and player development over a 3 to 4 year period by our coaching staff.

I submit that your bias is showing in this statement. Championships have nothing to do with the decisions that were made by the players that have declared.

TheEye - I think you are correct. I don't think anyone wants to really peel back this onion either. I personally feel that the players don't really feel that Les Miles will bring them to the promise land of winning a National title. I mean if you are expected to go in the first round and you are a junior, you should go. But anything less than that, especially if it is from the 3rd round of more then they only thing it can be is you just don't feel you are going to win a championship and you don't want to take the risk of something happening. To see Simon go is a joke considering his year was nothing like PP7 or Mo when they left. Ware and Ford I can understand, they saw what happened to Sheppard this year and probably don't want any part of that broken promise.

You reap what you sow and I personally feel Miles is starting to reap the consequences with the veterans.

perhaps we could get Miles the coach to marry Miles the person? Then he could just be coach teddy bear.

And you're basing this assumption on what? Your feelings, that is a sound basis if I ever heard one.

BS. $$$$$$$$ Simon needs $$$$$$$ to support a family. Even if only makes training camp and is a yo-yo on the practice squad (like Perrilloux this past season) he will make in excess of $60,000. That will support his offspring a hell of a lot better than another year at LSU. Just one example.

Ford has had repeated academic issues and was a borderline qualifier for this season. Keeping him eligible for another season would be an enormous task.

Damn your feelings are really showing.

I love my dad, but if someone said 10 years ago "here's 5 million to move out."
Guess what? I'm moving out.

So your saying Bama pays their players/ because that is what they are going for in the NFL. That is what the program doesn't have to offer them
YOu don't think Simon would get better with another year?
