Per PFT.

Goodell is really trying to screw us by not re-instating Payton ASAP.

im not too concerned if Carmichael leaves - whoever replaces him will be in good shape.

Losing Carmichael will have no impact on our offense

Carmichael deserves whatever opportunity comes his way. It might be good for him to step out from Payton's shadow to prove himself in another venue to further his career. Or it could be the nail in the coffin. One or the other.

I would be more upset if Kromer left.

Not really. If he goes now, Payton can't fill the spot until after the SB if not reinstated till then.

Carmichael is a good coach that gets along well with Payton and Brees. Is he a great play-caller like Payton? No, but he has a large role in the day to day activities of the offense and putting in the game plan.

While not some huge loss, it is a loss and puts us at a disadvantage in filling the spot.

Seeing as Payton will be back and since he runs the offense I couldn't care less about Carmichael leaving

For as long as I can remember CSP Carmichael and Brees sat together alone in a room and preped for the next opponent. He wouldn't be there if he had nothing to offer.
I do wish him well if he goes but i cant see him leaving without talking to CSP first.

yeah I'm all set with saying that we don't need____ coach.

I'd like to retain as many guys from our best offensive seasons as possible. Payton, Carmichael, and Brees obviously have a great method of gameplanning and work well together.

Sure but if Carmichael leaves the room I doubt Payton and Brees are gonna be twiddling their thumbs wondering what to do.

This. I've been critical of how Carmichael ran the offense this season but the offensive numbers & success the Payton, Brees, Carmichael combination has produced is undeniable.

The Saints can block Carmichael from leaving since he would not be the head coach in Buffalo. But that's a sticky situation and I don't know the Saints would do that.

Armed with a little more information, I can admit that I'm technically wrong. Carmichael's contract is close to expiring and once that happens, the Saints can not block him from interviewing for the Bills OC position.

If his contract expired, then he should be able to communicate with Payton, right? I know SP doesn't sign the contracts, but he should he able to talk to him before taking any other position.

CSP needs permission to talk to himself.

It's already expired.
