I'd love to see Phil Jackson try to do something with the players we have.

I think Monty is a below average coach all together. Defense hasn't been the same since Malone went to Golden St. We are the worst in the NBA at defending the corner 3 and corner 3 attempts AKA most efficient shot outside the lane. Hornets are giving up 14.72 pts per game from the corner. The 2nd worst team is giving up 10.03.

Horrendous drawing up plays out of timeouts.

And we don't foul up 3 with 4 seconds left. Unreal.

Don't you speak that blasphemy on this board.

Monty is a god amongst men in the NBA.

So what makes you smarter than professional NBA GMs, coaches, and players who all think he is an excellent young coach who can do great things with an actual talented roster?

This is dumb.

He drew up a great set in the penultimate possession of regulation.

The Hornets score about middle of the pack in offensive efficiency. Considering the talent, that is good coaching.

I think he does a good job developing players (especially big men) and getting them to play hard, but he's awful in actual game management. He's the anti Rick Carlisle drawing up plays. Always miss 2 for 1 opportunities at the end of quarters.

The corner 3 stat is inexcusable. The Spurs for instance are number 1 in corner 3 attempts and top 3 in defending the corner.

Advanced metrics also have Hornets D as least efficient defense in the league.

Yea I read those articles too.

Well then, other coaches said complementary things about him when asked about him in an interview, he MUST be a great coach then.

Let's just ignore that every time he draws up a play at the end of a game to win it it's a fricking abortion.

Or that we are one of the worst scoring teams in the league, again, just like every season since he's been here.

Monty is a below average coach that hasn't proved anything yet, but has an extremely likeable personality and that is why many people like him. In crunch time he has consistently made bad decision this season and last. He deserves at least a good 4 years with this team (thru next year for sure), but he needs to improve his decision making in games that are winnable.
