Any ideas where you can go to and sight in and shoot rifles in South Louisiana? Not a member of a hunting club, and don't own land way out in the country, but I need to sight in some weapons. Public land maybe?

I'd imagine given Christmas and this whole gun legislation thing, it's probably pretty crowded.

ETA: Rifle range is only 100 yards.

+1 for Sherburne. If you go during the week it shouldn't be too crowded. Go to Bing maps and search Sherburne WMA. It's about 40 mins from Baton Rouge.

I always do at the spillway. I don't go crazy with it or anything though. I have spoken to workers out there and didn't shoot close to them. There are some big mud piles that you can safely shoot at.
One more thing, I don't know if you are supposed to or not. Rules are made to be broken anyways

Are you allowed to sight in on wma? A buddy told me he got in trouble in Russel Sage by wardens. Or is RS even a wma?

I'm thinking of becoming a Range Master there. Only have to work 1 shift/month and can bring up to 4 guests for free if you go on any day that the range is not open. Get a free pass to give to anyone for every shift you work. Oh, and it's free for any time I'd want to go.
