| LA economic development efforts get props in Forbes (Posted on 1/4/13 at 11:40 am)
LINK LED, GNO Inc., WorkNOLA, the Committee of 100, ethics & tax reforms, workforce/business development & incentive programs, and even the New Orleans Recovery School District get shout-outs.

One of the biggest issues that plagued Louisiana and the New Orleans region was its inability to adapt – effortlessly remaining indifferent to change and continuing to neglect its business, while losing several oil firms to Houston during the 1970’s and 80’s. With declining school systems and increasing corruption, the region was not able to compete with cities like Houston... Now, with several industries flourishing simultaneously, financial incentives, workforce training programs, and an influx of both new and established businesses, Louisiana has been able to not only overcome a natural disaster, oil spill, and national economic recession, but has become one of the most competitive and prosperous states for business.

Meh, I have the entitlement mindset about us getting a ton of federal money. We don't get nearly as much in oil royalties as other states get for offshore production. We provide a ton of oil and gas to the country and have screwed up our environment in many ways because of it, so give me my money.

Whatever happened with that V-Vehicle stuff Gov. Jindal, Moret and the Mayor of Monroe kept touting? Was the local tax increase that passed to support the project ever negated or reimbursed?
