LSU is a notch below elite. Until the offense is fixed, I doubt you will see another defense to carry LSU like you did in 2011. The offense kept LSU from a title then, and it will in the foreseeable future if it doesn't change.

LSU's offense has a random feel like the staff is drawing plays from a hat. The defense will only carry them so far

I think that most football fans, commentators would disagree with your opinion of LSU being a little less than an elite program...

However I agree that with your observation regarding our offense.

Seriously curious to hear this from a Miles supporter....
Do you believe that the LSU FB team plays to it's full potential?
If not, on a scale of 1-100, at what level of performance do you think this LSU team regularly plays with respect to the talent-level, resources available, coaching decisions, etc?
Simply stated, what level of performance do you think this coaching staff gets out of the players (effort, game plan, game day decisions, etc.)?

Depends on how you define elite. I think LSU needs to win another championship to reach that level.

3 bowl losses out of 4 don't seem very elite. I would say from 2003-2007 LSU was in that class.

I am not setting the definition, merely making the point that most other college football fans and commentators would view our program as elite.

Our fans on the other hand are viewed in a totally different light...

Just sayin..

My entire family and many of my friends are die hard Tiger fans and share the opinion that the programs current level of success seems to come in spite of Miles game-day decisions rather than because of them. Most would be terrified to see Chavis get tired of carrying the load and leave. None of these friends and family are on the Rant, so it's certainly not just here.
This is the basis of my OP. Miles supporters don't have to agree with these views or even give a shite if there are fans that feel this way.
But to say they're not out there & growing in number is inaccurate.

You know Miles has won a lot of games over his career and even a National Championship before Chavis showed up?

Well aware, I didn't jump on the bandwagon in 03. That in no way negates my concern over the game-day decisions of the coach or concern over defense having to carry the load. Does the team win that Championship that you mention with the offense of the past few years?

get new offensive coaches and the tigers should be fine. but not until they get coaches that can run the ball for two yds. and have two attempts.doing so.

If there is no definition of "elite" I can say the exact opposite with just as much accuracy.

You are completely incorrect about how our fanbase is viewed across the CFB landscape. I have been all around the country represting and following LSU. Literally, almost universally LSU fans are held in the highest regard.

It's all relative.

We are quibbling about being a good program or an elite team. LSU has been in worse situations before.

I think the program has room to bump up a notch.

Chavis has acknowledged that LSU 'a success is because of Les Miles.

This I agree with..

The frustrating part for most LSU fans is that with just a marginally better offense, the whole picture changes...

Clemsons defense gave up OVER 400 yards a GAME this season but LSU couldn't get 2 when it counted the most. PLUS they were WINNING by 11 at the start of the 4th quarter. How could ANYONE be picking rathers....................LSU LOST. THAT'S what matters. NOT Florida.

1. Miles recuits well
2. Miles hired Chavis
3. What would you expect Chavis to say?
