| Does the SEC not care about the Sugar Bowl anymore? (Posted on 1/3/13 at 8:14 am)
It seems since they went on this historic run of National Championships that they don't care about the Sugar Bowl anymore and think it is a lackluster bowl game. The SEC has been trounced by two Big East teams and a mid-major in the last six years.

Or maybe Fla was not the better team.

I think Alabama, Florida and Georgia were all better than the teams they played and they just came out and all laid eggs.

Georgia lost before the NC run started.

How? They had the hardest schedule in college football and went 11-1 beating LSU, FSU and South Carolina along the way. I hardly call them a fraud for that. They just didn't show up.

I was shocked that Florida, as the no. 3 ranked team in the country, sold fewer tickets to the BCS Sugar Bowl than LSU did to the Chicken Bowl. I would have thought that after last year's sub par performance, the fans would have been more excited about the team this year.

The sugar bowl has been one of the biggest losers in the BCS era. Fan support has dwindled with the game moved from new years day as evidenced by the empty stadium last night. Last year with no SEC team also seemed to hurt the game.

Them and the Orange Bowl imo. The fact that the Sugar Bowl and Orange Bowl always seems to get mid major programs hurts them a lot.

Doubtful. Their fans and players didn't show up. UL wanted it more.

Everyone likes to pile on the Big East; however, other than the SEC and PAC no conference has a better win percentage in the BCS Bowls than the Big East. Better than the B1G, Big12 and the ACC.

While that is true and kudos to the teams that won their BCS games, you cannot make an argument that the Big East as a whole is a good conference. They are no better than most mid major conferences.

They're a fraud, because they didn't havea to play a single team with a stud QB. They played Murray, but the only reason he's considered good is because outside of he and Manziel the rest of the QB play in the SEC blows. No one Florida played could stretch them vertically. They hadn't allowed a TD pass over 15 yards all season. They allowed 2 last night.

Matchup-wise, I think all three games would have come out the same ~80% of the time if you played them again. -That Utah team that beat Alabama was crazy good. They also had one of the most underrated defenses in the BCS era. They wreaked havoc on Alabama and had like 8 sacks in that game. They weren't throwing out a bunch of trick plays, they took Bama to the woodshed. -That WVU team was also scary explosive. This game was probably the closest of all 3 and maybe WVU would only win 60% of the time, but I do think the matchup favors them. -Louisville would beat this Florida team 10 out of 10 times. Florida's secondary couldn't cover Louisville's WRs with 20 men. They got completely exposed tonight, and it had nothing to do with wanting it or not.

UF played: Tyler Bray Aaron Murray Johnny Manziel EJ Manuel Zach Mettenberger Not exactly a bad list of opponents.

The BE just shows up and wins in the BCS Bowls? I agree that they've taken a hit with losing teams and yet inexplicably they just keep winning. Personally, I think the BE is better than the ACC and given the debacle in the B1G this year I'd say theres not much room between the two currently.

Florida almost lost to Mizzou and Louisiana. What does that tell you about the game vs Louisville which is better than Mizzou and Louisiana.

Lol -Bray is an overrated punk -Murray is eh, mainly just the product of the talent around him -Manziel is obviously a stud, but was playing in his first real game ever. The Manziel at the end of the season would have dropped 5 TDs on yal -EJ Manuel is garbage. Did you watch yal's game. It looked like he had money on the Gators. He sucks, Logan Thomas-esque -Zach Mettenberger is considered not exactly bad? In what relm? LSU's offense is archaic, and it's pretty much the definition of an offense that can't stretch the field vertically
