Meh...you really can't. Jerk string or a mojo can help.

Yea I don't have a mojo. We counted 110 fly within 100 yards of our hole last time and only had 4 come in.

nothing you can do to get them to decoy, they will if they want to otherwise practice your passing shots.

You need to hunt close to oka trees that are next or in water. Find were they are feeding and you will score. If you put pressure on them, they will not come back anytime soon.

2 or 3 decoys and a teal mojo helps.

We have two or three holes they use on our land, but one is where they roost and I'm afraid if we hunt it too hard they will move out.

Put your decoys where they wanted to land anyway

I OCCASIONALLY can get convince some with a wood duck call and 4 or 5 decoys in the wide open, but wood ducks pretty much know where they are going when they take off and you usually won't change their mind.

This. We had a mix of birds coming into the spread and zooming by on opening day of the first season.

Yea it's just frustrating. I wish we had a few big ducks to work.

I'm dying to go duck hunting. Love to get my son to shoot one.

We have the calls but don't know where to go.

Look, I been hunting them from the age of 10 and I am 54. No pressure is the key. If you hunt one spot today, don't hunt it for a week+.

Must suck to have smart wood ducks. Ours are dumb as shite apparently. They decoy sometimes, and they fly over the same place pretty much every morning. Good thing because otherwise I'd never kill a single one.

I'm in the same boat...or lack thereof. I don't have a boat so I'm not able to get to the good spots on public land, and I don't have money to join a lease. So right now I have to settle for whatever happens to fly over our little ponds.

That's the only answer. Find where they're all going- cause they are piling up somewhere. It'll be like shooting fish in a barrel.

Yea the problem is I think their hole is the pond on someone else's property up the road.

Find where they roost and bust that arse if you can get to that spot. Other than that,

I used to hunt them on Three rivers and had really good luck either easing along in a pirogue or with chest waders . Usually they would roost way too late to shoot but would come in by the 100's .

We had a camp along a bayou with a wooded lake. Dark-thirty...when you can see the fire come out of your barrel.
