I don't remember basketball in Louisiana ever being particularly strong, from a team standpoint.

The last powerhouse I can remember was '02-'03 Woodlawn.

May have been some since then but they were top 10 nationally.

Along with those Woodlawn teams were the teams at Ouachita during that same time. The time those 2 faced off in the playoffs was one of the best sporting events I've ever been to

It's definitely down this year. Riverside and Curtis both lost big time players from last season. St.Aug and Peabody both lost a lot also. Those were 4 of the top 5 in Louisiana last year.

In 1998 Parkview Baptist had one of the best teams in the country. Had 6-7 guys off that team sign high major scholarships. There were a couple others.

Scotlandville isn't the best team in the state. May not even be the best team in the city. Madison Prep could give them all they want. Christian Life would also be a good game with them along with EA.

The national sugar bowl prep classic is this weekend at the alario center. Should be some good LA teams there along with some great teams from around the country.

You youngsters don't remember the mid to late 90's. Particularly 96.
Lester Earl-Lsu
Corey Powell-Rhode Island
Tiger Womack-Lsu
Tony Cole-Georgia
Dereck Jones-Misdissippi State
Kendrick Spruel-Florida
Adrial Smilie-Southern

I could go on and on. This senior class (all the studs) played AAU ball for Sid Edwards, Louisiana Breeze. They won the AAU National Tournament.

Yea that team was legit. Wish DJ would have came back for his senior year.

I heard that Brother Martin is supposed to be pretty good this year from a couple of people. No idea if that is true or not.
