One of the saddest and most vile cases in recent memory. The fact that this case has had so much controversy after the verdict just absolutely kills me. These families have gone through pure hell and this case wont simply end.

I don't really think Jesus had anything to do with this. No way I would want to be on a jury that prayed 4 out of 5 hours a day. Deliberate, focus on the facts, reach a verdict, and be done. It's really sad if the facts truly support a guilty verdict and the death penalty and he gets a new trial.

It was retarded to go so far out as they did with the religious stuff in a court of law. Deserves a retrial, imo.

The juror wrote that out of the five-plus hours spent deliberating, four hours were spent in prayer and reading the Bible. "The praise service intensified when the jurors were apparently hung eight to four, so in comes the guitar, in comes the hymns and shortly thereafter comes the vote for death," said Isaacs. Records provided by a court officer shows that Bible verses were read, a guitar was played and hymns were sung by the jurors.
That is fricking insane.

I can totally see one of our Grand Juries deliberating in such a manner. Although they would only be reading the Old Testament with some random prayers for Israel mixed in, so no fair blaming Jesus.

Agreed. I'm not really familiar with this case, but it doesn't seem right that these jurors made their decision based on information from Bible verses and hymns.

I suspect that the jurors were quickly in agreement that he was guilty and that the 8-4 "hung jury" was over the recommendation of the death penalty. I have no objection if the jury spent 80% of the time considering religion and morality, if the question was whether or not the death penalty was appropriate.
