Re-rooting S3 after Jellybean

Unfortunately I didn't look up what to do before my phone started doing an OTA Jellybean update, and have lost my Superuser root access. I still have some of the apps frozen, but a couple of the new things(Verizon backup+media, Verizon Sync Svc, Call forwarding, Smart network, S voice, Help)wont fricking shut off.

Has anyone dealt with this? All I have found is some technical 11010110 computer mumbo jumbo, and I want to be able to get these things off/frozen

Oh yeah, I have already tried rooting it again with the RootDebug thing and it aint working

YouTube is your friend with all Jailbreaking/Rooting

Also, there are several forums that have tons of people that specialize in rooting/jailbreaking.

So you updated OTA with a rooted phone?

I wouldn't of done that.

I don't know about the s3 but I know this has happened to people on other phones. Usually you have to wait for a workaround based off the current os version. If you wait and keep checking xda you should find a solution.

This...

Samsung will know you have been messing around with rooting and your warranty will be void (if you even care).

I'm more familiar with Jailbreaking iPhone/iPad's. I owned an SIII for a couple weeks and just couldn't fall in love with it.

re: Re-rooting S3 after Jellybean

It just started by itself. I didn't have a choice in the matter.

I have looked at XDA, but all of that stuff requires me to click on all kinds of other pages and download a bunch of different stuff. Nothing really clear-cut

I still have a bunch of the stock stuff frozen, just not all of the ones that I wanted because it loaded more on there with the update

I wouldn't worry over warranty. You can always restore root.

Can I upgrade to Jellybean if I have a rooted S3?

Or do I have to un-root first?

Do you still have root? If unsure search for root checker in the play store. It will tell you if you still have root.

Something about you flash counter gets triggered that will allow Samsung to know you have messed around with rooting your device (even after restoring/unrooting). Again, I'm more of an iDevice guru, but have and still hear about this issue. Just be cautious and research before jumping in in the future.

The flash counter can be reset. I can't help the OP because I'm on Sprint, but there's developers who've made "restore" roms that unroot, flash the phone to stock ICS 4.0 and reset the flash counter.

All things root

It's no ModmyI.com, but they have plenty of information.
