No one is talking about how the 2012 Colts suceeded under similar conditions

Maybe even worse conditions.

No head coach. Rookie QB. A 2-14 team the year prior...now to the playoffs for the AFC.

Saints have a far better QB, but lacked a coach...and might have a chance to break even.

Discuss.

I think the Saints beat the Colts H2H right now if they played. Just my opinion.

You mean the Colts similar situation in which their QB didn't attend any offseason activites and their Super Bowl winning head coach, assistant coach AND GM got suspended?

Oh yeah, I remember that happening to the Colts

Rookie being thrust into the league is an analogous situation to what you outlined.

Check out the Colts schedule, but I do agree with your point.

You have to remember the Saints defense has a legitimate shot this week at giving up the most yardage ever in a season. Thats right, EVER.

The Saints also played a 13-3 schedule and I assume that the Colts had the benefit of an easier schedule. Unfortunately, some of the Saints' easier games were in the early part of the season and they still dropped the first four,

Yeah, cuz teams lose their top two coachs and GM all the time and rookie QBs NEVER play their first year. Wait, I think I have that backwards.

Pagano was a first year head coach. Him being out this year is in no way, shape, or form comparable to losing one of the best head coachs in football. Just not even close.

Let's see...RG3, Wilson, Luck....all possibly headed to the playoffs as rookies. Dalton went last year. Being a rookie isn't quite the detriment it once was. Not having the architect behind your entire team for the past 6 years is much bigger blow IMHO

I think Saints fans are just looking to blame someone for the season, and obviously Goodell's banning of Payton is a convenient scapegoat. However even if the Saints had Payton this year, that defense wasn't stopping anybody the first 6-7 games (especially the first 4).

Also, even with Payton, Drew has had games in the past where it feels like every pass he throws finds someone in the other team's jersey. I think with Payton, this team is 9-7, 10-6 at best. That would be a good (not great) season. But Saints fans who think Payton was the ONLY piece missing from a 12-4 or 13-3 season, are looking through black & gold glasses.

You know that was meant only for your Drew Brees argument.

The Saints definitely had a tough season that waxed and waned in difficulty of opponents. Some teams had a much easier schedule.

The Colts situation was nothing close to the river of shite we were in.

I think this is not a good Saints team, but we're 12-4 at worse with the Colts schedule. It's one of the easiest I've ever seen.

The colts didn't miss Pagano until the season started.

The Saints didn't have Payton the entire offseason, preseason and regular season. Not comparable.

Pagano was also allowed to talk to his team and assistants during the season.

I think Cancer trumps all our shite. I bet if you gave Chuck the option of bounty gate and cancer, he'd not chose cancer.

That's not exactly the argument. Or the point of the thread

Except it is. We're talking about similar situations when our organizations situations aren't close at all.
