The time has come.

Imbalanced, arbitrary football schedules, unfavorable bowl politics and a conference office that frequently indicates it is ignoring LSU’s concerns and needs have led the school and its athletic program to this point:

It is time to consider seceding from the Southeastern Conference.

LSU is a charter member of the SEC dating to 1933, but that doesn’t mean it has to stay there forever. Not if there are other, appealing options out there.

Where could LSU go? With the Big East dissolving, the ACC in flux, the Big Ten and Pac-12 too far away and independent status not a viable option for scheduling and economic reasons, LSU’s only real option would be to join the Big 12. It’s the conference closest to LSU in terms of physical location and philosophy.

Here are five reasons why there’s no better time for LSU to leave the SEC:

I mean I get it. But all of this seems to be a huge overreaction to recent Alabama success.

Tennessee hasnt always been terrible
Bama hasnt always gotten the better schedules
its just the way things are right now.

Retarded.

We're going to leave the strongest conference and we're one of the strongest teams within that conference. Ok.....

Huh? How about putting the Big 12 teams in the SEC? That would fix that preseason ranking OU gets year in and year out. Texas? haha

Gotta love local news.

Legit article but the money is way too good to ever leave. Lsu needs to rally other schools to the cause of getting the PAC 12 model for rotating those that want to be rotated.

frick this article, Texas gets the treatment in the big 12 like bama does in the sec. This is the dumbest shite I've ever heard. We play bama every year in the most watched game of the year, why frick that up?

LSU needs to slide its chair a little closer to the table, man up and grab someone by the throat and demand we get a fair share of what we built. That just takes the man sitting in our seat, to NUT UP. I do believe it is BS that we wound up where we did in the post season, but when it is all said and done the money is the same and we still wind up in the top 5 if we come to play. The CAP 1 and Chick-fillet are two of the best advertised games there are. I don't live in LA and that is all I hear about is the CAP 1 and CF Bowl.

if miles doesn't make some really bad coaching mistakes, LSU wins the bama game.

You mean like letting Chavis have a brain fart in the last minute when we had the lead and game in our hands.

Way to come off sounding whiny like A&M. We don't need to throw away everything to start over in a new conference, just work to fix the stuff that is wrong in the SEC which is pretty minor compared to the other conferences.

Dumb article and dumb reasoning to leave.

He is acting like the SEC is out to frick LSU on purpose. Yeah, right.

The bowl alignment this year just didn't favor LSU when looking at the bigger picture which is the whole conference. I like the bowl matchups the SEC has overall.. Nut up and quit whining.
