Even though the game got tighter than perhaps it should have been, beating Dallas in Dallas when they needed the win is good. The question is what do we do in the draft? Either our DB coach is lacking or Patrick Robinson is a bust. Our secondary is bad. Are there any free agent DB's that can help us next year? I still think we need defensive lineman in the draft.

We have a draft talk thread but it's been lost in the gameday deluge.

Anyway, I think we need to go BPA-DE/DL with our first pick. The secondary is not quite as bad as they look.. the front 7 needs to get more pressure for them to play to their potential. We need a good end opposite Cam Jordan (Will Smith sucks), and we could use a DT to compliment Hicks.

We could also use an OLB, but that comes second to DE/DT. A lot of people are arguing that we should maybe target an OT in the first round as well because the protection has not been good this year without Carl Nicks.

Expect the positions that we draft to be a mix of DE/DT/OT with maaaaaybe a safety.

I agree that Smith is no longer the answer at rush end particularly in light of his salary. The technique of our corners is really poor. Personally, I do not agree with the get inside your opponents shirt and focus on his hands, chest, whatever.but that is what is taught in the NFL. That aside you need to get your head around and look for the ball to make any type of play on it.

I like Hicks and Bunkley in the middle. There are some good FA ends available. Most notably Johnson and Avril. We can also draft a DE. I'd rather go OLB in the draft though since there aren't many FA LBers.

I don't think Nicks is the missing link. The interior has been good besides the first few games. I'm ok with Brown taking over at OT. He looked ok. There are also some OT in FA this year too. Where to spend the money is the issue.

After how atrocious we've been all year, I think we must go corner (yet again).

Our backs are terrible and all should be replaced. They have poor form, awareness, and all get injured. Time for a major change.

Considering the same thing was said last year and we signed basically everyone. I'll let Loomis work his magic. We'll be fine.

1st pick: OLB
2nd pick: OT
3rd pick: CB
4th pick: SS/FS
5th pick: DE
I don't know how many picks we do have, but maybe trading Will Smith (if someone wants that salary) for a couple 4-7th round picks would help.

If we could get more picks, I would get 1 more OLB or MLB, 1 more lineman, maybe a young RB since we only have 10 of them (joke), but only on my last pick would I consider another DT. I think our linebacker depth is the biggest issue on Defense. When vilma wasn't playing, our LB's looked real bad and doesn't persue as well as top defenses.

DE
At this point, every spot in the secondary
Probably another OLB
OT, depending on what happens with Bushrod's contract

Robinson is a nickel or dime CB
He NEVER needs to be covering the other teams best player

we don't need a linebacker hawthorn and lofton with chamberlain when he comes back from injury. we need safety and corners plus de and another dt. Oline is also a must. Linebacker should not be our main focus. Chamberlain would of been a monster with spags he showed a lot of promise. Maybe a deep threat wr.

Not even trying to be a dick but the Saints need to ensure all the pieces are in place in the coaching staff first. You guys have to get a deal done ASAP with CSP.

This offseason bullshite with lingering deals (Drew and now CSP) would drive me to NOT be a fan of the saints, if I were one.
