Check Houston Armory for your piston build, they could probably do something

So I was just looking at this upper and realized it does not come with BCG or charging handle...

Is that normal or do most come with them?

I also realize it doesn't come with handguards or rails, which is fine because I want a nice rail in FDE that I would have to order separately anyway.

So overall, is this a good deal? If you were buying it what kind of BCG and charging handles would you look into? You can add in the stock ones for like $200 more also or I could try and find them on my own.

It all depends on how available they are. If they are super rare and hard to find, then that's a terrible deal. If you can find a BCM or DD bolt easily, do that. One mans great deal is anothers worst idea. Just do what you feel right and be sure to post the results so that way we can applaud or ridicule you.

I bought that awhile back, the charging handle/BCG combo is probably the best on the market. And yes that is normal for the upper to not come with BCG or charging handle.

Thats about what they should be. Put the magpul kits in them and they're just as good as pmags.

That is the normal price for that BCM upper receiver group. I would definitely purchase the charging handle/BCG combo for $219. The BCGs were selling for $189 right before they started doing the mandatory NRA donation. The charging handles sell for $45. Both for $219 is pretty good...especially considering the BCGs sell out pretty quickly.

Quality wise, is BCM one of the better manufacturers?

Compared to lets say PSA, Spikes and Stag, would BCM be the best of the 4?

I really need to work on putting together another AR. I'll probably just go the complete upper and lower route. I have some nice furniture just sitting at the moment...Magpul CTR, MIAD and this...

Hell, I even have a couple of extra Surefires and some Troy BUIS.

Different strokes for different folks, but I would definitely agree with that. Daniel Defense and BCM are my favorite manufacturers. I think they make the best ARs for the money.

There may be a few companies (Noveske, Knight's) that make a more refined product, but you're going to pay for it. My main concern is reliability, and DD, Noveske, etc. are going to be pretty much the same in that regard...excellent.
