I am not sure why its my favorite, but shoegaze or nu-gaze, has been part of my regular music rotation since the early 90s.

Some of my favorite tracks....
My bloody valentine - Only Shallow
Verve - Feel (warning this track is 10 mins long)
Spiritualized - Medication - The live versions of this are amazing but the youtube quality was suspect.
Broken Social Scene - Anthems for a 17 yo girl
M83 - Midnight Children This video is awesome if you haven't seen it.
Working for a nuclear free city - Dead fingers talking - was in a breaking bad episode.

What are your favorite bands? Tracks?

I also really like ride, a place to bury strangers, pains of being pure at heart, deerhunter, atlas sound, and the jesus and mary chain. Really almost any shoegaze is good stuff IMHO.

Yes I took a lot of LSD in college.

You! good stuff. Saw them open up for Ride in 92 or 93? I don't remember. The early 90s are just a blur for me. I am glad LSU fb sucked back then.

The term "shoegaze" has been around since the late 80's.

It's not some new "hipster douche" thing someone just made up all the sudden.

Oh and I'm a big Galaxie 500 and Cocteau Twins fan. Loveless by MBV is also probably in my top 5 albums ever.

One of my favorites, love the guitar in the last few minutes:

Galaxie 500 - When Will You be Home

Buddhavista, if you haven't, I'd suggest you check out Ringo Deathstarr. Think they'd be up your alley, and anyone who'd like to hear a new, quality shoegaze act.

Only Shallow probably has the best opening to any song I have every heard (either it or everything in its right place by radiohead)
