Stephen A. Smith and Jemele Hill don't "combat racism."

They promote their race and boast about black people any chance they get. They make things about race when things have nothing to do about race.

This is the only thing Smith said that made me tilt my head. Why are we judging anyone's "blackness"? Who cares how "black" or "white" someone is and why is it relevant in the sports world?

Like many others on ESPN, when he's on TV it is scripted. He plays a character. His old radio show wasn't near as bad and actually enjoyable at times. He's a really nice and cool guy in person as well.

He's unbearable on TV though

They just don't get it. It's all for shock value, to get people pissed, to tune in and to see what's the next "racist" thing they'll say. Stephen A Smith portrays the "angry" yelling black man on TV. But if you listen to him on something outside of ESPN he's calm, doesn't yell, doesn't bring up race, etc.

Can't believe people haven't figured it out.

What exactly is black pride? Why is that ok but a white man on tv would hace been fired and espn would have been sued if svp wemt on and talked aboit his white pride

Being proud of your culture, your background no matter how DARK you are, how ugly people say you look.

There's still little black girls out there today that say they HATE their black skin, they HATE being black, hate their nappy hair, etc. CNN will be airing the piece again tonight and it'll show a lil black girl saying that. That's why black people say be proud of who you are, have black pride, etc.

I've never met a white person or a white kid that said they hate their white skin, hate being white, hate their hair texture, want to be a different race, etc. This goes on in the black community.

Someone had a comment in a previous thread about this subject, essentially addressing the notion that matters of race are really about culture, and I think that was spot on. Parker, whomever the frick he is, is mad because RG3 is implicitly rejecting the black culture, and that offends the idiots that embrace the elements of that culture that are essentially representative of closed mindedness, racism, and ultimately a culture of failure.

The rest of Smith's response is being left out. Might want to look at it.

Black women hate their hair, they all do it's weird. That's why half of them wear wigs

I guess what I don't get is why Parker used the whole "white fiancee" thing against him? Doesn't being a superstar black athlete having a white girl, totally validate his "brotherness" ????

To be fair to Rob Parker, from all reports RGIII is a cornball brotha. Whether he should have said that on live tv or not is the issue.

nah, he is a geek sorry he does not carry himself like the bullshite you see on tv of how black men carry themselves. Sorry he was raised right. Thing is the majority of black males esp educated ones are more like RG3 than that bullshite you see on rap videos.

The irony is RG3 is trying to make race a non-issue and a TV personality is trying to fuse it into the conversation.

Parker is an embarrassment.

Yeah that's where the "well spoken" comments come in when they refer to the "good" black athletes. I laugh when people in the media say things like "He's well spoken".

Because it gets things like this started. I looked at that link at the bottom of this page and there's 9 pages. Now imagine how many other people and message boards, tweets, facebook pages, etc are talking about what Parker said. Parker accomplished what he wanted to, bringing attention to himself.

RGIII's dad wouldn't let him grow up to be a thug POS. Haters gonna hate.
