for you camping and hiking OBer's. about to get one but i want one that easy to set up, light, compact, and doesn't have any unnecessary BS. $200-$300 range. any suggestion? looking for something kind of like this bc of the covered part in front of the tent to keep shoes, bags, etc...

is it just for you or do you need more than a one man?
Also, are you carrying this in a back pack?

will be carried in my kayak. mainly for me. but if 2 of us go fishing, i figured it would be easier to have one tent. i was torn between getting a solo vs 2 person. for this reason

If you think you will have two people in it ever. Get a three man.
Is weight a huge factor? Look on REI.com. They have all the gear searchable by weight/price. Get the lightest in you price range for packing.
I have had cheap Coleman's that lasted years, are easy to put up and cost less than $100. They may be a little heavier bit kayaking you may be able to handle a few extra pounds versus packing.
Campmoar has good deals on tents and stuff.

And the ones with the vestibule are nice. A place to take shoes off out of the weather.

Get a boat and get any size tent you want.

Get the water proof spay for the tent no matter hat you buy. Even expensive tents leak without it.
And all you need for a footprint is visqueen. Cut to size you need.

I've got the Rock 22. It's been great. I've taken care of it, and had it for a few years.
