I'm very happy with the direction this program is going. I know its early in the season but they have shown more in these 6 games than big bird showed during his whole tenure.

If they stay healthy and Hickey comes back it's possible. We have really good guard play but Johnny O'Bryant doesn't have much help down low. This team is scrappy. I'll be satisfied with NIT this year. The whole team comes back next year and with the class coming in next year we will definitely have top 25 talent. Still burns my a%* that we didn't get Ricardo Gathers from Riverside. This team would be dangerous with he and O'Bryant.

I hope the media leaves us alone the entire season because this team needs to stay humble and play hard every game. I'm scared that If they get top 25 before sec play, they tank the rest of the season.

At best, they have shown no more at this point than last year's team. At best.

And that whole tenure you're talking about included advancing to the 2nd round of the NCAA tournament and giving the eventual champions their biggest test of the tournament.

It's not necessary to make shite up about the previous staff to be excited about this years team.

That game vs. UNC was fantastic.

TJ wasn't right for LSU. But I still like the guy.

I don't understand where the need comes from to bash him repeatedly. He's gone, and both he and LSU seem better off for it. It's not as if he was this insufferable cock-sucker like Brady was either.

Yep. TJ was always class and always placed blame on himself. Straight shooter and I liked that. Not enough of the upstanding coach in collegiate athletics.

Ok... look. Trent was a bad coach for LSU. He was not a good recruiter. Our team was AWFUL. The players HATED playing for him. Do I think he's a good coach on the bench? Defensively, yeah. Offensively, it was like watching grass grow. Awful. I'm 100% glad he's gone. He was EASILY worse than Brady.

The main difference I'm noticing from Trent's teams is we actually beat teams we're supposed to, and when we do win, we actually score 70+ points like a normal team.

Just some examples from last year:

lost to coastal carolina
lost to south alabama
lost to 15-16 Auburn
beat GT 59-50
beat Rutgers 55-50
beat Auburn 65-58....in overtime

but I'm most pissed off about the South Alabama game. We were winning by a considerable margin, then TJ gets super conservative and lets them come back to beat us in OT. I'll never forget how anemic and unorganized our offense looked in that game.

John Brady deserves more credit for that tourney run than Big Bird Rogers.

Not going to dignify the Trent bashing with response.

Regarding *this* year's team, we'll know a lot more after this road trip. I just hope people don't bail on the team if they go 1-2 or 0-3 (which is possible, if not likely.) Most people will see the teams and think they suck, because they're still stuck in 1988, when only name teams in big conferences were worth a damn.

Ultimately, I believe this LSU team's lack of size (or capable size) will catch up with them.

If we end up 19th in the country at the end of the season it wil have been a miracle run. Not saying it couldn't happen but the stars and planets would have to be in alignment. JOB would have to learn to trust his guards and throw the ball back out when he is double and triple teamed. We would have to hit over 40 percent on three's for the year. No one gets hurt, suspended or in foul trouble. Freshmen grow up quick and play like seniors.

Really was. Thornton and Chris Johnson played their arse off. Just one big man short. Gave all they wanted until about 8 min left in the game. Would have liked to seen how far that team could've gone with a little better seed that year.

Yep. We aren't in his top 100 yet. After this road trip hopefully we will be.
