Got rid of the phone land line, since we all have cell phones, and now thinking about ditching cable TV. Looking at the combination of over-air HD transmission combined with internet TV (e.g., Hulu). Will still keep high-speed cable internet, but do not watch enough TV to justify the additional cost. Any suggestions? What about sports broacasts? And no, I am not poor, just frugal.

Reddit Cordcutters

for sports you'll need thefirstrow.eu or ATDHE.net

I did it for over a year but sports are the only reason I made the jump back to Directv. Between OTA channels with a homemade DVR and netflix, I was perfectly happy outside of football season. The lack of espn killed it for me. I may give it another try soon. I pay too much for tv.

This isn't the OT. Most are honest and logical over here.

Here are some threads discussing dropping cable:

I got rid of it, I only regret it for Monday Night Football. Mostly it was a very good decision.

It's interesting you posted this. I got rid of cable this week. I'm running my pc as a media center. The one tv the wife and I really watch is the same room as the pc so we just have it connected with an hdmi cable. I'm running a lot of stuff through xbmc, we have netflix, hulu, and amazon prime so between all of those things we're about covered. We have access to so much programming that I don't really see a need for cable anymore.

The only downside for me is local programming because we're too far away from our OTA stations. So it will suck a bit in that regard but the benefits far outweigh the negatives. Heck I'm not even worried about sports that much, the quality is bad but there are options online. Plus I mostly just watch Auburn and football is more fun with a group or to just go to the game.
