they are chasing some. Hard rut (like extreme boning) starts right around or after new years

Usually gets started right around Christmas. I take off every year after Christmas and hunt hard that week leading up to New Years. Can't wait

Heard a few reports from up there of chasing but mainly that scrape activity is in full swing. That tells me the bucks are doing a lot of traveling

I have been hunting about 15 south of Woodville for about 8 years now and never see bucks really running does hard until middle and end of January. Not sure why that is because other people tell me they are rutting I just don't see any sign until then.

I hunt in Natchez and had a 6pt chase a doe by me this past wknd. I got a text this morning that my buddy who owns the land killed a 155 inch buck in the stand I hunted that was cruising. I always hunt the week after christams. Every year we see full rut during this time.

I talked to a guy today hunting 10 minutes North of Woodville. He said the bucks were a few minutes behind the does this past weekend.
