| New Year's in Houston (Posted on 12/9/12 at 2:14 pm)
I'm going to Houston for a few days after Christmas, including New Year's. Any suggestions for NYE activities in HOU? Nice restaurant downtown maybe? Anything else I can't miss that's cool but not overly touristy? Before you say "don't go etc etc" we are already going.

It'll be my first time in Houston for NYE as well, tryin to figure out what to do. I have frickin work on the day of so I can't go to NOLA I know a couple of my friends are doing something downtown but I can't remember. As for restaurants, Brennan's is really good. Don't know too many because I don't go out to eat very much, especially downtown.

The Rockets are playing Atlanta at Toyota Center. I will be at the game and then Discovery Green will mostly likely have something.

Was there last year for a wedding. It sucked, new years in Houston that is. Went out to eat, which was fine, but every decent bar had a >$50 cover/ticket and most were "sold out". Ended up drinking with friends at someone's house which was way better bc I don't get to see them much. Some other friends of mine did some sort of moving bar thing were you pedal on this traveling bar and then go to other bars. Don't know much about it but I'm sure someone on here does. All I know is they were hammered and puking on a tree somewhere off of Washington by 9pm.

I went to a party two years at the Crystal Ballroom in the Rice Hotel downtown. It has a large cover but free booze. Mostly a younger crowd though. New Year's Eve typically sucks unless you have big plans.

I think this is what some of my friends are doing this year. Still don't know. I say we have an OT block party

I did NYE in Houston last year. We planned to hit City Centre for a big party. Well, that was great until we realized it was a majority black party. The Rice Hotel's Crystal Ballroom has the best NYE party for young people.

Crystal Ballroom is the best party IMO. Del Frisco's by the Galleria is my favorite steakhouse, Brennan's is also great.

Thanks for your input, however I was asking for what is best to do, and everything claims to be the best on their own website.
