Getting fitted isn't a big deal

It's typically just a minor adjustment on the lie angle of the club

Doesn't cost much at all. If you are above or below average height, you may want the shaft length changed but that's not too expensive either

I've gotten fitted but all my measurements were standard

and is playing with a women just the worst thing possible? or is it acceptable?

And the truth comes out.
There is a no wife/gf rule with the guys I play with. I say it's a bad idea to start playing because of a chick, but whatever gets you in them drawers I guess.

Adams A7os.

Under 300 new on eBay, there Adams so if you resell they will hold value, and I have never seen fakes from China on these clubs.

Golfing with women is usually a miserable experience

your clueless.... Mid 80's? tells me you should have been been fitted long ago. You should just through those P-zings away if you dont get them fitted dumb dumb

Maybe when I feel like spending between 650-1000 on a new set of clubs I'll go get fitted. The Zings are black dots which are standard lie and standard length. If I'm shooting in the 80's with all the bad things I do with my swing, the break to the 70's will take lessons and practice, not another set of clubs. They arent magic.

Lets guess, you spent between 750-1000 and you shoot where? In the high 90's? or you have blades and you shoot scratch?

Buying a cheap all in one set over a good set of used irons is beyond stupid. Those complete sets are complete crap and you'll look like a hack with them

The question should be how much are you willing to spend on a complete set? Prices are better on the previous year models. You can pick up a decent driver for $200 and a complete iron set for $300.

My brother in law shot a 99 his first time out. I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't been out there with him at the time.

Looking at gigagolf. Has anyone actually played these before?

I'd have to put one in my hand before I purchased.

That's how I feel as well. I have Ping S59 Tours now, but they are not forgiving at all. I wouldn't mind taking a look at some of those on gigagolf.com for the price.

I think we talked about your S59's before. If not, it could have been someone else.

Is there somewhere that might have one to hold so you aren't blindly buying? Not blindly, but you know what I mean.

They do have a 30 day play guarantee. Also they extended that until 1/31/13 at the moment. So if they suck, could always send them back.

Ahh, yeah...I'd go for it then.

I forget about the playability trial period because I ususally keep whatever I order online.

If you have a golf outlet store, go by there and get a set of Tour Edge. I think that is the brand for around $300 and have lifetime warranty. I was in Orlando at an outlet store, and the salesman was showing me them while, I got my driver gripped. Not a bad set to play with.

2/ Go buy Harvey Penick's Little Red Book. Keep it with you
and red it a lot. It's short and sweet and will give you good
insight and positive thoughts as well as teach you things. It's a book I keep with me.

I own this book too. If your even remotely interested in the game, its a fun book to have.

I started out with a set of MacGregor oversized offset irons. Played from the time I was 15 til about 21 with those. Upgraded to Taylor Made RACs and still have those today. There was a time before I graduated when I was playing once or twice a week that I thought about buying blades, but thankfully did not as real life has really cut into my golf game.

My advice to you would be to hit up Ebay and see if you can find a quality set of clubs (game improvement irons, google it)for a low price, or check Edwin Watts for some specials on some of their lower end clubs, especially going into this spring. Dont go out and drop $700 on a set of irons, especially until you decide you even want to continue playing the game.

I would stay away from the "set in a box" clubs, just my opinion. And unless you are an extreme in height, there is no need to get fitted for a set of clubs. You should be able to find a nice forgiving set of irons for between $150-$200 dollars that will give you a little help while learning the game. Springtime is a great time to buy clubs, FWIW. Lots of sales as the new years clubs come available.

As others have said, take a few lessons. Taking lessons at the beginning of your entry into the game will provide you with habits that will stick with you for life.
