What ranking do you really think Notre Dame is? Obviously, they absolutely deserved to be ranked #1 and deserve a shot at the National Title. But, a lot of you, me included, do not think they are the #1 team in the country or will win the National title. What ranking do you think they are truly are?
I'd put them at 3 behind Alabama and Oregon.

1 they're unbeaten and beat a BCS team, none of the other two you listed has.

This is a different question than how good you think ND is. Anyone who says they wouldn't give ND the No. 1 ranking right now is either lying or a complete homer. But that doesn't mean they necessarily think they're the best team.

Well yeah they have to be ranked where they are right now but I would say they are at best 5th best.
I truly believe at least 3 of the top 4 or 4 of the top 6 SEC schools would beat them.
It is what it is. I'm not here to hate on ND tho.

Alabama is not the #1 team in the nation...anyone who thinks this needs to get the ESPN bukkake off their face and realize that there are other teams in the top 2 besides Bama
ETA: the answer to your question. ND went undefeated, no top 5 team did that, they deserve #1

3. Florida
4. LSU
5. Texas A&M
6. Georgia
7. Kansas State
8. Stanford
9. South Carolina
10. Ohio State
11. Notre Dame
But I feel like if those top 11 played each other, none of them would dominate the field. I think they are all pretty close.

ND is over-rated. LSU struggles and beats a terrible Auburn team, we move back a spot. ND struggles and beats a terrible Pitt team, they move up. Notre Dame sucks and will get creamed in the BCSNC so this thread is moot.

#1 for now. They won each and every game. The other supposed "better" teams weren't able to do so. Not sure how or why you'd rank Oregon over ND?

ND was carried by a stiff defense that seemed to come through often enough.
If Alabama can score 24 points and tie the TO margin I think Bama wins nearly every time.
ND offense does not impress me.
So rank them #1 until Bama shows they can play a good team without a billion Turnovers.
BTW, the TO margin in the UGA, Tamu, and LSU games were the daggers that nearly burried Alabama.

Because the game with Pitt was in November and your game with Auburn was in September.
