those 3 QBs have all had seasons that could be argued to be in the top 5 QB seasons in CFB history

Much of this could be tied to the typical SEC fan's attitude towards the emergence of efficient offense in other conferences. "Robert Griffin 400 yards of total offense you say? Try that on a SEC defense." etc. etc.

this argument has raged since AT LEAST 2003

there are a lot of ho-hum offenses in the SEC, and this likely inflates defensive stats a bit, but an elite offense can still perform, as history has shown.
