Does it make me a bad American and person if I have zero interest in Army/Navy? (Posted on 12/8/12 at 1:45 pm)
I admire the men on the field for what they do for our country. I appreciate the rivalry and the pageantry. I understand it is important for a lot of people. That having been said, I just can't make myself watch that game. It is usually not a fun game to watch since I have no rooting interest. I just can't watch.
Fire away. I probably deserve it... but I can't help how I feel

Watch Band of Brothers. Then realize that every player on that field has a contract to be an officer in the United States Military. Those players don't take plays off. I love looking at the lineman knowing that they have to pass all of the physical tests that the skill players do.

That doesn't make the game any more entertaining to watch though. Only reason I watch is because one of my friends is a captain for the team, but I'll stop watching again after he graduates.

Not in my view. One can appreciate the obvious without watching the game.
Some like to pat themselves on the back about how patriotic they are. Some have a genuine interest. But if you don't, why should you have to force it? If it's not genuine you can always do something more productive with your time that honors the sentiment all the same.

I stop watching when a few minutes after kickoff and then go back and check the score to make sure Army isn't going to break the streak. If they're leading in the 2nd half I'll tune back in.
To me the best part is the pregame show leading up to kickoff. The best line of the day so far was one of the player's quote "Everyone playing in the game is willing to die for everyone who is watching this game"
