I'm having a hard time getting into this show, which is somewhat surprising. Do things speed up?

I stopped after season 1. Can't get motivated to start season 2.

Things speed up usually halfway into each season.

This season was like that for me. I was bored as hell, then something happened and now it is must see TV.

Yes much to set up. Seasons 2 and 3 are some of best TV in history IMO.

I love the show. But I also loved it when I was half-way through Season 1. I'm guessing that if you don't like the show now, you won't like what follows.

Yeah, it takes it's time delving into the characters and developing the plot.

I'm at the 3rd episode of this season. It has been kind of slow so far.

be patient. it's becomes great. you'll soon find out those "slow parts" had a purpose to develop the characters

Well you won't like it. The best part of the show is the dialogue. It's not a show you can put on while you play on the computer. The writing is fantastic, and I think it might be worth it to watch the first season.

Those slow moments are my favorite part of the show.

I've watched since season 1 but even when I enjoy the shows, it often took me awhile to finish them. The last 2 episodes of last season were phenomenal though.

I'll finish out season 1 and see what I think. I think the show has potential.

I just finished the last season of Entourage last week, so I feel like I've been on a sugar high and Boardwalk Empire is kind of my "come down" off the sugar high.

Maybe I need to change my mind set.

loved this show from day one. Just watched the movie Mobsters that depicts the rise of Luciano, Lanksy and Siegel. It was pretty nice to see how they end up because i enjoy Lansky and Luciano in Boardwalk empire.

Season 2 is perhaps the best television ever produced

I didn't like it at first, I don't remember when it started to come around (early season 2 I think) but when it did come around, it was hard to beat. StIck with it

I think I stopped watching after season 2. I just didn't care about the characters and some of their storylines. It got to boring for me

Icouldn't get into it either. I love Steve Buscemi, and at the time I was really looking for that next great premium cable channel hit series, so I REALLY wanted to like it. Just couldn't get into it at all. Much prefer Magic City.

I'm the exact opposite with Magic City. I love Boardwalk and tried to force myself to like Magic City but it ain't happening. And OP, like most are saying, stick it out and it will really start to pay off.
