A pro-style and a dual-threat. Does anyone know anything about these guys?

Both are supposed to be very good prospects.

LSU needs to get on a roll of having top quality QB's.

Mett will be awesome next year, then we start over again.

Bama had Mclroy for 2 years, then they get McCarron for 3 solid years.

that's in part why they are on a roll...they have all the pieces...QB is huge

From what I hear about Jennings is he is closer to Pro style because he always looks to throw instead of running. But he can run if he needs to.

This is correct..I guess since he is black, people quickly assume he is dual threat...but the guy flat out has an arm and is very accurate....having the ability to run the ball is just extra...im excited for both QB's coming in next yr

That was JJs M.O. as well before he came here. I guarantee you the kid will have some running plays and options for him if he gets to play (not necessarily a bad thing imo)

dual threat = 1)can't read defenses
2)poor decision making
3)run first, throw interception 2nd

You realize Jarrett Lee was the furthest thing from a dual threat and threw more interceptions like ever.

We need someone who can develop these guys once we get them. The problem we have is we get good recruits come in and they go backwards because there is no one here to help them improve.
Cam Newtons, or kids who just have "it" only come along once in a blue moon.

I just want a guy who is an above average passer who runs around a 4.6 40 time and can scramble whenever he needs to but is mostly a pocket passer (matt flyn)

Is that too much to ask?

It is the Christmas season! Maybe we can forward this to Santa!

I with you, Tigerman. Other teams seem to come up with them. I still say they have to be developed, and we have not been doing that.

I think LSU has a staff that can develop quarterbacks, but our problem recently has been the trial by fire with JJ/JL. If a QB comes in and he KNOWS he is the #2 guy, he can focus on all of the small things about playing QB and improve. For the last 4 years, we had guys who came in and needed to learn the playbook ASAP because they were going to be playing almost immediately. It is very hard to break bad habits when you are the starting QB.

Our two commits will come in and be the #2 guys for sure, so they can focus on footwork and release techniques first and the playbook second.

both pro-style with Jennings being a bit more athletic. they both have size and arm strength and the difference will be who can learn the most and the fastest. the future is bright....finally.

Mett improved much as the season went on (first guy to throw for 250+ in three straight games since the 80s)and we haven't seen enough of Rivers to know how he has improved so a little unfair to say there isn't anyone here to help them improve.

Exactly. He's got a gun.. and has "escapability." This is different from running as a first option, like Russell Shepard was in HS.

J Lee was panic first, not run first

I just want a guy who is an above average passer who runs around a 4.25 40 time who is a multi-weapon and can scramble whenever he needs to to extend the play or create positive plays and forces the defense to account for him at all times, but is as good a passer as any. (RGIII)

Is that too much to ask?

The more weapons, the better.

I just want a guy who is as good as Drew Brees as a pocket passer and runs at least a 4.20 40 time.
