No really, it's MSNBC again... Obama Consults with MSNBC Hosts Sharpton, Maddow on Tax Rates
quote:
President Barack Obama met with several MSNBC hosts this afternoon at the White House to discuss tax rates, according to Huffington Post reporter Jennifer Bendery. The reporter wondered if an "MSNBC love fest" was going on at the White House. Here's Bendery's reporting, in a series of tweets: ... So... in the last hour, I watched Rachel Maddow, Al Sharpton and Lawrence O'Donnell all walk into the West Wing. MSNBC love fest? WH spox: “This afternoon at the White House, the President met with influential progressives...." — jennifer bendery (@jbendery) December 4, 2012 WH spox says Obama mtg with Maddow, other progressives to discuss importance of extending the Bush middle-class tax cut.
"ifluential progressives" the new vernacular for "state propagandists".

The nerve. He has a history of doing things like this. Back in early 2010 he met with a bunch of journalists and columnists and one of their houses in a fancy suburb of DC for dinner. I am sure he gave them gifts so he would get good coverage in the media. He met with among others
quote:
Charles Krauthammer, William Kristol, Larry Kudlow, David Brooks, Rich Lowry, Peggy Noonan, Michael Barone, and Paul Gigot.
LINK My bad, they are all right leaning columnists so it is okay.

So you are comparing a meeting with a groups of journalists from all different political backgrounds, to a meeting where he clearly targeted one political ideology. My bad, you're a dumbass.

I have my doubts, now. Otto is generally ideologically infantile, but cohesive. I would say this appears closer to DA-level buffoonery.

It appears that he met with a bunch of right leaning critics....how do you see that as a meeting with "all different political backgrounds"? Further, one can be hopeful the meeting was to discuss the extension of the bush tax cuts or at least a minimalist increase.

He did it a few days after meeting with all the liberal journalists. It was just a segregated press meeting.

The two-and-half-hour dinner, which came at Will’s request, is only the first get-together between the president-elect and Washington’s opinion-makers. Wednesday morning he met with prominent columnists and liberal commentators, including the New York Times’ Frank Rich and Maureen Dowd and the Washington Post’s E.J. Dionne.

This is true, but how do you know he isn't having another meeting with right leaning journalists in the next few days? The point is getting bent out of shape about this is silly as clearly he has a record of meeting with ideologically diverse groups of journalists.

Please tell explain how posting a link showing Obama meeting with right leaning journalist to counter the OP acting like it was a big deal he met with left leaning ones is buffoonery? It is no more buffoonery then the initial post.

Has there been a very recent high-level WH meeting with "conservatives" on these same issues this week that I've missed? This President is over the pretense of pretending to reach across the aisle. What would he gain from this?

Meeting at a private residence is a little different than an official White House meeting to discuss tax policy with the network that ran your re-election campaign.
