Best duck food
Posted by Uncs on 12/3/12 at 12:38 pm00
We have a slough that spills out into a field. We got a dozer in there and damned it up so now we have an area about 3 acres in an open field that holds water when we pump. Already thinking about what to plant for next year. I want something that will make the ducks put the freaking breaks on and come on in. Were about 25 miles notheast of catahoula lake.
What ya got

Corn or beans would be great but you have to factor in how your going to plant it. If you have a drill or planter it's one thing, if your planning on just spreading seed I would go btm

Decompose rapidly in water. Awful thing to plant for ducks.

Tell that to the thousands of ducks in that area a few years ago when the soybean fields flooded. They closed some farm land to duck hunting then

Never said ducks won't eat them, they definitely will. But soybeans decompose fast in water. Why not plant something that will last longer, and therefore keep ducks around longer?
