Does anyone think that the fact they were shooting lead shot may have saved him. Steel shot is brutal on bones.

That's usually a quality I seek out in all my women. Not to look like a him.

I was busy all day today and didn't have the opportunity to update.

Here is an update taken from family member of Brandt from facebook.

"Update on Brandt... They have already started decreasing Brandt's sedation. He is opening his eyes on and off and sitting up and laying back down"

On Tuesday December 4, the family is having a blood drive at the Maringouin Medical Center located at 77695 Wagley Road in Maringouin. Any questions call 225.625.2313

In addition, I believe anyone can go to the Lady of the Lake Hospital's blood bank and donate on his behalf.

A prayer vigil was held last night at Livonia High School with a huge turnout from the community. Please continue to keep this kid and his family in your prayers.

Looks more promising. I feel for the kid who pulled the trigger too, he will have a lifetime of bad memories and guilt to live with.

My next door neighbor was found dead at 12:30 this morning, the only survivor of the boating accident that took the lives of two of my other neighbors. The guilt got to him.

Always more than one victim. Best wishes to all, and their families.

This. Prayers sent for the kid. Hope he pulls through.

This is why when duck hunting, you set up to where the birds come in directly in front, and all people stand in line with each others shoulders. Make it clear the area for each person to cover to prevent one from swinging his gun in someone's direction.

Update from this morning (12/4) from Family Member:

Brandt is off the vent and breathing on his own. When asked questions, he is nodding and giving thumbs up/down. He mouthed bye to his cousin when she left the room, he told his mom he loved her. The doctors may try to begin feeding him, and are even considering sending him to therapy to stand up on side of the bed.

OB, this is most excellent news. While no one knows what the future may hold, he is fighting. The family also expressed gratitude for all of the prayers they are receiving. Please continue to keep this kid in your thoughts and prayers.

Edit to add: Remember the family is conducting a blood drive in Iberville Parish today, and is also asking anyone who may be interested to donate blood in his name at the Lady of the Lake Hospital Blood Bank in Baton Rouge.
