I am looking to purchase my first cast iron pot. Do y'all have any suggestions on where to get it from, brand, and size?
I won't be cooking for large groups of people yet, so I don't need a giant one. The biggest thing I would probably make at this moment is around a 1.75 gallon gumbo.

TIA

I bought a Lodge cast iron skillet through amazon. No regrets. I do have a plus membership or whatever it's called so there was no shipping. Great deal.

I also bought a lodge enamel one and I probably use that one more than the seasoned ones

The blue one is $40 on amazon. For some reason all the other colors are $60

I noticed that the different colors were different prices too. I wonder why.

A No. 12 is a great size pot for decent sized gumbos and jambalayas.

Interesting suggestion
I will look into that. This might be a dumb question. Does a number 10 and 12 mean 10" and 12"?

It refers to the number of quarts the pot holds, I think.

What's the cleaning and storing method you use? Soap and water to clean....no dish washer right? Do you oil it after a use or just let it dry and put it up?

Check out antique shops/second-hand markets. Find an old Griswold or Wagner.

HOT water if no food is sticking...then dry it on burner, then put balled up newspaper in it to absorb the rest of the moisture (if any) and to absorb the food smell (if any) and put in cabinet for later use. If the pot sits for a long time, lightly rub EVOO in it, then newspapers, then cabinet.
