Last nights game sucked, but it wasn't like the 49ers game where we were flat out manhandled. I actually think this had more to do with the way we played. We were tired and beaten up. Atlanta got us at the right time.

To say Atlanta is good is kind of a stretch. Their record is impressive, but they are very underwhelming and I have no doubt their fans are nervous with the playoffs looming. The way we played, they should have blown us out, but they couldn't.

The defense is definitely improving due to the scheme. Once Spags can get his players in the system, it will be better. Hicks and Jordan are both playing great.

Brees has been bad the last two games, but he's Drew Brees. He'll be fine and the offense will always be fine. Just a really rough stretch of games where you need a head coach.

Which goes back to the collassal failure that is the coaching staff without Payton. We don't have to worry about a single one of them getting a look from another team this offseason, and if we do, it won't be a huge loss. Vitt, Carmichael, and Roemer proved they are not head coach material. Spags gets a one year pass for being tasked to revamp a D with the same players that made it fail several years in a row.

We all knew this season was going to suck. Some were more vocal about it. Some denied it. But it's clear this is just not the year and the distractions to start the season were too great for any team to overcome.

Lets get a good draft pick. Make smart FA signings. Have a full offseason with Payton, and then get ready NFL. 2013 is going to be the year the Saints marched back in.

Positives: Defense really tightened up after the initial onslaught.

Negatives: The offense completely wasted it.

I'm going to be pissed about this one for a while. I just can't believe we made so many mistakes in a must win.

I fully agree. You have to know Payton will be on the MF warpath when he gets back.
An you right, to only lose by 10 after throwing 5 interceptions is a pretty incredible job by the defense considering the way they started.

Now it will be pretty easy to spot trolls when they continue to blame the defense. To me, the last two losses reside squarely in the shoulders of the offense. Playcalling has been atrocious and for some reason we absolutely refuse to stick with the run. When do we do run, we're force feeding Ingram for 2 yard gains. Oh Pierre ran for 10 yards a pop to get us a FG? Screw that, lets go back to 5 wide and chuck it.

I agree with your post for the most part, but:

Vitt has potential. I can see a team going after him. And I'd hate to lose him. Our LB's improved when he got back, he's great in pressers, fierce on the sidelines, our team improved when he got back, and he is definitely going to get a look from a team this offseason. Carmichael's playcalling has been fricking terrible, but dont forget, it took Payton a couple years to calm down. Remember the triple reverses, and the half back pass and the reggie up the middles, and the shotgun on the goallines, he wasnt the all around steller animal chess playing Bobby Fisher he is now when he got here. Carmichael has potential. Kromer is a good O-line coach. Nothing more and he isnt going anywhere.

quote:

Spags gets a one year pass for being tasked to revamp a D with the same players that made it fail several years in a row.

Spags D has been improving steadily every single week since week one. And his second half adjustments are fricking awesome. He doesnt get a pass. He gets a pat on the back and an apology from our offense and all the fans who have been shitting on him.

But it's clear this is just not the year and the distractions to start the season were too great for any team to overcome.

Technically we arent out of the playoffs yet. Yes, i have black and gold laser vision and until the chance of us getting in the playoffs is 0% exactly i will not gice up faith that we make it in. And if we win the first round and go back to Atlanta and beat them I will die a happy man. Also, that would give us 2 playoff wins and 2 wins over them this season.

I thought I read somewhere that he was happy just doing what he does now, & did not wanna be a head coach anywhere.

Did anybody else get the feeling that Drew got hurt during the 49ers game? He was under throwing deep balls and couldnt put the "touch"'on the short throws.

Once Pierre Thomas got in the game, they were getting about 6-7 YPC. On second and two, they started throwing HR bombs and getting nothing. That's playcalling. That bullshite needs to stop.

a good 7am morning after post zombie

I questioned if there was some physical issue with Brees myself. He doesn't have a rocket arm to start off with but there were are number of misses that all seemed to be short from weak delivery.

I need this bounty gate crap resolved quicklyso Goodell doesn't take this second round pick again. I understand what this season is and i am ok with it. With that said, I am looking forward to a good draft. I can use it as medicine to soothe what this year turned out to be. But if Goodell does get to take that draft pick again.....

You lost me on the last sentence.

I thought we were being positive here, yet you are giving up on the season.

It is not over till it's over. Lets beat the Giants and just see how it all unfolds.

What a coincidence that the Giants won the superbowl just last season, yet were 9-7 with a 4 game losing stretch.. who got to avoid us luckily in the playoffs.. now we get to go 9-7 beating them and try to get in ourselves. A lot of their losses last season were to teams we lost to this season.

Brees under threw 1 ball and that was because the defender was in the way and it affected his throw even tho the ball was not tipped he was trying to throw around it.

Again, it is almost infuriating that people are ready to conceded. You don't fricking concede until it is no longer possible. Anything can happen. Lets root for the Saints to beat the Giants, not root for a fricking draft pick.
