Middle Tennessee is pushing for WKU. FIU pushed for FAU. We would need La Tech or Southern Miss to try to push for us and we LTU won't do that.

It really feels like Scott Farmer has a great 10 year plan set up while everyone else is moving on a 4 or 5 year timeframe.

ETA: Maybe not great plan, but you get the idea.

Hendo: cusa will scoop ull up in the future. As a tulane fan, I felt the EXACT same way as you feel for the last year. Its a hopeless feeling but seemingly from out of the blue the big east (and many former cusa members) put the invite on the table.

ULL offers too much for CUSA to pass them by. They clearly werent the first target but the more sunbelt schools that move to cusa the more likely ull will make the move ..

How long have these other schools pushed for CUSA? I would assume this all happened pretty quickly after Tulane announced but I don't know.

All of these other schools got CUSA to visit their campus the last time around. We couldn't even accomplish that. Then our admin said we weren't ready to move yet and are working toward a master plan. They're moving too slow.

So now we're playing catch up to these other schools and the best football coach we've ever had is pissed off.

NO school has ever dropped down from 1A to 1AA, you want ULL to be the first?

Several teams moved down in 1982 due to attendance restrictions being placed on teams (most notably the entire Ivy League moving down to IAA, Yale could have stayed but chose to move voluntarily along with rest of league). Several of these teams have since moved back up to FBS level.

Only two teams from the Southland Conference (which moved down to IAA in 1982) supposedly met the new guidelines in 1981, ULL and McNeese State. ULL moved to independent status for 1982 to avoid the move down, McNeese (similar to Yale) chose to move down along with the rest of the Southland to IAA starting in 1982 (a decision many fans question to this very day).

So Sun Belt is dying and CUSA doesn't want ULL as of now? Is that the gist of this thread?

apparently the AD hasn't made much of an effort.

I should have clarified my point. No team has moved down from 1A to 1AA since the original attendance restrictions were put into place in 1982. Several schools moved down from 1A from 1978 (when 1A and 1AA were formed) to 1982 when 1A attendance rules were enacted.

Since 1982 no football school has voluntarily moved from 1A to 1AA.

I am understand your pain and genuinely feel sympathetic to your situation.

Edit: I would enjoy having a close conference mate but wouldn't want to have to recruit against you.

And ULM fans on this board (LSU FANS LOL) have the worst little brother syndrome I've ever seen.

Tech and Monroe fans sympathizing with Cajun fans? There's so much state love in this thread. I had to turn my computer off and on again, log back into TD just to make sure I was at the correct website. Is this real life?

Big East is now CUSA
CUSA will become new Sun Belt
Sun Belt will be decimated and out of business
ULL and ULM could return to 1-AA where they both belong

This. the quick turnaround has caught him and the others off guard and they had no plan in place. Now they are running in circles trying to figure out how to get out of the sun belt. They haven't released much to the public because there isn't much to release. I firmly believe they would go independent for football if no conference offers them an invite.

I hope they at least included animations in their power point presentation.
