Gunner Kiel (departed ND mid-term) made an unofficial visit to Vandy's campus with his parents last week, and will be making an official visit with his parents this coming weekend. Gunner would be a nice add to what is already a really strong recruiting class
Assuming this is true, then thats Indiana, Lsu, Note Dame, and now Vandy all in less than a year. Maybe we were fortunate to not get this dude. I like the talented 2013 QB recruits so GK is water under bridge.

Gunner sounds like a pussy
Like Robert Lane all over again
But with bigger boobs.

I thought he was enrolled at ND and was on their team already?

Regardless of any failing of GK, Miles is a grown arse man whose been wildly successful. Mocking an 18 yr old for changing his mind is beneath him and an embarrassment for LSU.

Kid wants to play in the SEC. His mother is the problem.

I'm with you on this. I think Les got caught up losing on Landon Collins, then the Bama game, and GK just took it over the top. Shouldn't have said it, but I can see this scenario playing out.

Why would he not stay and get to go to the national championship? Kid just makes bad decisions over and over. Not a good trait in a QB.

This is true. It's unlike Miles, and I'd bet he regrets it. Another thing that was dishonorable was how we treated Patrick Miller (?), that olineman who switched to Auburn.

I think Gunner seems to be a good kid whose parents are screwing him over. The kid wanted to attend LSU and they pressured him to attend Notre Dame. For all his indecisiveness Vandy and James Franklin would be a good fit. He would have the opportunity to be apart of something special at Vandy.

Doesn't Golson have 3 more years at ND? Kiel should've stayed and could've been in the mix to start after Mett.

On second thought...
From April interview...
Miles: “I'm not bitter. I'm glad he stayed there. I really mean it. Here's the truth: If you don't have some swagger to you and you can step into this stadium and be able to know the advantage that you're playing with the Tigers and you're leading the program that has some real weight and clout, then you really need to stay home with your brothers.
“I don't mean that [negatively]. I'm for him. He gets a chance to come in here and compete and start on a team that is a great team. I really meant what I said. I was talking more about the confidence and swagger. I was not demeaning. If he shows up, it means he has all those things …
“I mean it honestly, if it's more about family for him, if it's more being close to home … he would have never been successful as he needed to be. I mean it very respectfully …
“The guy we got now [Zach Mettenberger], he's a confident son of a buck. He's a throwin', tough kid. If he continues to develop and learn and grow as a leader, no question.”
Quarterbacks coach Steve Kragthorpe, who helped recruit Kiel, also weighed in:
“Gunner's a great kid. He comes from a very, very close-knit family. When it really comes down to it and time to get on the plane, he couldn't do it. We knew that was part of the recruiting process. I talked about it with him very candidly.
“When I was playing at West Texas State, my dad [Dave] was coaching at Oregon State. My son's at Idaho State. I have one in Chicago. I walked him [Kiel] through what it was going to be like. He woke up Sunday morning and was getting ready to go to the plane and said he couldn't do it. I was disappointed he didn't come because I wanted to coach him. I really liked their family. I think they're wonderful people.
“The best way to describe it is, I understand.”

from what I understand the issue is more about how he didn't show up....

Yeah, seems like Les was caught up in the moment and if I recall correctly , it was during the bash and he forgot that even those lsu specific events have reporters waiting for sound bites.

I like it when Miles speaks from the heart! He was disappointed and knew what LSU could be for Gunner growing and maturing into a man.

Yea, I'm sure Les "forgot" that the media reports on the biggest recruiting event of the year, never mind the fact that every local sports radio personality is there hosting the thing
You people that think Les is some bumbling idiot that is lucky to win all the games he's won crack me up.

With this kid I really do think Les was trying to help the kid more than LSU. I feel like Les really wanted to help the kid grow up and would have allowed him to do it at a much slower pace than other schools. It just seemed like Les's feeling were hurt and he lashed out about it.

I think people who post the let me google that shite or simply reply google are a bunch of pricks.
You could just google everything.. and there would be no point in topics or thread discussions.. but if you are going to make the effort to give such an a-hole response why not just give the fricking answer.. or don't give one at all.
