So we have won two national titles in the last 10 seasons - it's been awesome to be a Tiger fan in this era, but lets say for fun, you were given these options for the next 10 years, which would you take.

1. A guaranteed title in the next 10 years, but that's it, only 1.

2. The present state of the program.

(edited to say, I'm not saying the other 9 seasons would be failures in scenario 1 - but you only get 1 title if you choose it, whereas option 2 you could win more than 1 or none).

I'm going with 2, even if we don't win one in the next 10 years, I like where we are.

This is an arbitrary and strange choice you have presented. These things are not mutually exclusive.

Why? Are you assuming under scenario 1, outside of winning the national championship, the "state of the program" will somehow go to shite in relation to its "present state"?

Doesn't make a lot of sense.

no, but that's the fun...would you sell the potential the program has right now for the next 10 years, to guarantee just 1 title?

no, we could still be very successful over the next 10 years, but we only would win one actual national title.

interesting debate

its the marlins vs braves debate

you could be the Braves of the 90s and finish in first 13 straight years and win 90 games a year but win 1 title in that run or be the Marlins who have 2 titles in the past 10 years but in between have been a pile of shite

hard to say, id go with the titles

With the resurgence of Notre Dame and next year Ohio State off probation and bowl eligible, It's going to be hard to repeat. Florida and Georgia have made a comeback. Bama will be there. I love LSU, but we might have just seen our best years.

People have been saying we have seen our best years for 10 years. I don't believe it. Our facilities are top notch, and the state is ripe with talent. The school is willing to pay top money for coaches, and they are willing to come here. The fans will not tolerate mediocrity.
