Yes, we probably could have played better against Ole Miss and Arkansas, but I wouldn't say that the offense regressed against Ole Miss as we scored over 40 points in that one. The defense is the unit that has really regressed in the last two games, specifically the secondary, from their stellar earlier season performance.

You're right. Somehow I noted the loss in my head, but still included the 06 win in Knoxville in my thought as well.

I'll just replace with noting they won at #15 ASU 2 weeks after Katrina.

Was Mississippi State a struggle?
I thought our 20 point win there was good enough.
Yep. But "Good enough" might describe most of the 10 wins we had this season. When did we dominate any of our serious opponents this year (I'm not thinking of Idaho or No. Texas or Towson in the "serious" category). Maybe Washington is the only one. We beat Auburn & SoCarolina by 2 (good enough), aTm by 5 (good enough), Ole Miss by 6 (good enough), and Ark by 7 (good enough). So maybe I'm spoiled, but I drank the LSU is one of the "elite" teams kool-aid. And I expect to see my favorite team play better than just "good enough" every week.

wondering why the team regressed on offense and defense since we played Bama

I wonder if the team (like the fans) was just incredibly let down and disappointed in this loss. Took everything they had left to get it together and win these post-Bama games.

Well Notre Dame barely even played "good enough" in most of their games, but they are the only unbeaten team and are going to play for a national title, so I don't really care how we win.

And in all reality we dominated the hell out of USC (yes, only one game and yes, only won by 2), but still dominated.

i wouldnt really call development of the o line a coaching thing. the o line injured itself into improvement. right side were freshmen.

then you have hurst walking away from team cause stud called him a pussy in a meeting. one question. why the hell was he on the field to begin with?

I agree. Just seemed like the thread needed a "reason" to account for the regression in the last 2-3 games...

From LSU fans? Are you kidding me? LSU's 2nd and 3rd deep players should be able to win every game by at least 4 touchdowns. If Les can't coach them up to do that he needs to be replaced. Maybe Tom Coughlin would like a new job.

The 2012 revision of the retard LSU fan handbook clearly states in section 10-1.12 Les only gets credit for recruiting (albeit according to 1-1.10 anyone could secure top 10 classes in La.). Staff gets credit only if it can be implied that Les has nothing at all to do with said accomplishment (4-12.1).

that is a truly outstanding comment.

Yes, this is a fact. We should be very proud that this team played three games with heavy hearts against competitive teams and prevailed.

I know some will say these were bad teams, but they weren't. Just as LSU improved over the year, so did Ole Miss. They finished quite strong. Miss State lost heart after LSU beat them, but they were a good team this year. And Arky was a talented team that finished top 5 last year, had a disappointing season, and tried to salvage it with one monumental effort against LSU. Proud of the Tigers for holding them off!

I give him tons of credit, and don't really care if others do or not.

I've seen teams have wash-out seasons over fewer adversities then LSU has faced for each of the last two seasons.

Look back at teams who have won NCs, ALOT has to go right throughout the season for them to be there. Wether that be a favorable bounce of the ball in a tight game, or keeping injuries very low. Not many teams stay in the hunt for a title with 1 or 2 key starters having season ending injuries/academic issues. Much less with having 5 different starting o-line through what was it six or seven games? Starting OLB out, one of the best Defensive players in all of college football lost one week before the season... etc etc.

Despite the tidal wave of issues, this LSU team remained extremely competitive. And stayed in the hunt throughout the season.

But instead of the brilliant minds of the negatigers realizing any of this, they will sum up a great season by one or two calls that they say is all Mile's fault. Maybe they were, but if they work you negatigers are left with very little to bitch about aren't you? I'll take Miles over 99.9% of college HCs any day of the week.

I made a thread similar to this a few days ago. I agree with everything you said. 10-2 with the war of attrition is pretty impressive, even with the less than dominating play that was expected. And hey, with all of that attrition, LSU can win 11 games! It hasn't been pretty, but 11 wins in any shape or form is pretty stout.

I'm talking about all of the losses of key starters in August from an already young team. We lost perhaps the nation's best defensive player and a top punt returner in a very publicized way one week before the season started, then proceeded to lose one of the nation's top offensive linemen, our best running back and both a starting linebacker and his replacement before we hit the meat of our schedule. Freshmen who had never seen the field before started or played significant minutes at key positions throughout the entire season.

What you said in quotes above is seen as an excuse for failure by the extreme nuts on this board.

I think LSU going 23-3 since 2011 with our QB problems and attrition this season is one of the best coaching jobs I have seen in the SEC since NS in 2003.

Completely agree.

The coaches should get the credit they deserve but we have so many fans that see a 10-2 record in the SEC as a failure.

Crap, people were ticked off with a 13-1 season.
