Tennessee and Arkansas should be after this guy in a big way. LSU should be after him as an offense coordinator, but he will be a head coach somewhere.

Perhaps if we were in the year 2000.

We should go after Dan Hawkins while we're at it.

California is one of the hardest schools to coach at. They're broke, completely broke. Having to compete with USC, Oregon, Washington, now Stanford, is extremely difficult. I think Tedford is a great coach. Would I want him at Alabama? Probably not. But he has a chance to be great if given a real chance

I don't know about great, but I bet he could produce a consistent, cleanly run program that had a good graduation rate. Not many SEC titles, but 8-10 win seasons would be the norm if he had the right players and right admin support.

Tedford is seriously burnt out right now. He is a stress monger. Kind of an Urban Meyer-light, but without the high level of success. Team preparation and in-game decisions have really suffered the last three years. Tedford would be an immediate upgrade to many mediocre programs. Colorado might be wise to hire him now. But I would be intrigued to see how Tedford does at a school that recruits consistently better than Cal. With the right DC, he would do fine in the SEC. Offensively, he always produces a good running game (nine 1,000 yard runners in 11 seasons), but his passing offense has been wildly inconsistent. He needs a smart QB who can read defenses to make it work. His biggest problem since A. Rodgers has been developing QBs. Maynard was a disaster—aside from being a terrible passer, for the first time Tedford used a QB who never audibled (adjustments were called in from the sideline). Tedford should have let a younger QB develop. Ideally, Tedford really needs to take a year off to regain his health, and maybe re-think his offensive philosophy in a changing landscape. Alternatively, he might be better off in an NFL OC position.

I agree with you. I think he is a very solid coach. With good resources I think he could be top tier.

Washington has been mediocre during Tedford's entire tenure and Stanford's only risen up the last few years. Cal's had a boatload of talent and he had less than 3 losses in just two seasons.

He only had a couple of good years at Cal, didn't he?

at the right school he would be awesome. If Miles wasn't at LSU he would be my first choice. All these SEC schools looking for coachs would be stupid to overlook him. Especially schools that have the recruiting base to be good like Auburn and Tennessee. Arkansas not so much IMO. Maybe even Arkansas, they could recruit out of Texas.

GTFO. Tedford finished in the top 3 of the Pac-10 3 times in 11 years. And remember the Pac-10 was USC and the 9 dwarves for most of that time. Cal has finished in the top 25 once in the last 5 years(and that was only #25 in one poll). Maybe UK should look at him but AU and UT would be insane to do that.
