Is South Carolina-Clemson the most heated rivalry in college football that no one really talks much about? You always hear rivalries (and for good reason) like The Iron Bowl, Florida vs. Florida State, Ohio State vs. Michigan, Texas vs. Oklahoma, but you rarely hear anyone mention South Carolina and Clemson in terms of hatred. Living in Charleston the past couple years really opened my eyes in the great amount of disdain these two fanbases have for one another. It seems much more so than other similar rivalries (Ole Miss vs. Miss. State, LSU vs. whoever, Texas vs. A&M, Kansas vs. Missouri, etc.)

Most of the other rivalries you listed have a team or teams that are consistently relevant at the end of the year, so people generally care about those games more.

I think people, real fans, that follow and know the game well, realize how much of a heated rivalry this is. Most people who only follow a couple teams or watch a few games a year don't really understand it. Sure Alabama-Auburn, Ohio St-Mich, and Texas-OK get more publicity, which is fine, but that doesn't mean they hate each other more.
It isn't just about football either though. Last few years in baseball Carolina-Clemson has been the premier rivalry game.

Civil War is pretty damn heated having lived up in those parts a few years.
But no one gives a shite about it unless you live up there...I knew little of it before as well.
